Fred’s “bad” microphone thing is genius. He’s making bangers out of the infinite number of rough ideas we all have in our voice memos. And Ai won’t be able to replicate that intimacy as easily.
Right, our unique interpretation and decision making process is hard to emulate.
The fading in and out on the filter is very similar to the idea, in classical music, of making sure the music is breathing. That it feels like it's being sung from a human, the way humans have to take breaths while singing.
Oh wow, I don't think I ever really thought about that connection. That's actually a beautiful way of thinking about it!
When I started out I used to obsess over making things super high quality, and I kind of fell out of love with producing because it made it really hard to be spontaneous and creative. Coming back to electronic music years later, I've really enjoyed learning from high-profile producers who value creating a 'vibe' above anything else - like you said, you don't need the best tools before you can start making art. Great video - thanks Oscar!
So true!
This is one hell of a mindset, almost two years that I'm making music and I'm starting to diggin into it
v I b E eereeeeeeer
This is super accurate for me as well.
Same. There are a lot of us.
Top quality content as usual! Thank you!
Thank you again and again and again Oscar!

Super well done video, I've seen quite a few Fred again inspired vids and this still had some really interesting and new bits in it! Thanks for the work. 👏
Also the track breakdowns on Patreon sound really cool! 🤓
Great video, as always thank you for your creative insights!

Great vid Oscar!! So helpful
thank you for this! this is really helpful in all of the ambits
I feel like my brain got larger while watching this one. So much good advice packed into this video.
amazing video as usually man!
That explanation about the sound quality being related to the vibe was so eye opening! I love more industrial type of heavily distorted techno / breaks, but if I grabbed one of the kicks or snares from them I would definitely think they sound bad, but only because it's in isolation
Thank's for doing this. For someone who is falling deeply in love with uk house this just makes me want to learn to produce even more ❤ thanks again
Great explanation, thanks!
This is the most valuable YT channel about music production that I’ve seen so far! Thanks a lot for sharing your incredible knowledge and passion 🎧😊
This is just amazing!!! thank you!!!!!

This music theory in-depths are really helping to understand the context better
I love your content. You're a great teacher & crushing CZcams. I'm taking notes as I grow my channel.
Thank you!
Another lovely video, thanks
Thank you thank you THANK YOU for these videos. Very insightful, especially for people like me who's been doing rock/indie but want to get an insight in other musical realms. And they all do connect in the human elements. Love Fred Again.., that third album is so »human«, melancholy and exigent. It breathes an intimacy and urgency of life.
This is great. Thanks
Man, I love your stuff, I've learned so much from you, now I'm playing live my stuff!!
Beyond learning things your videos are always pleasant to watch 👍. Hello from France ^^

i’ve watched liken 4 hours of how to make your music sound like fred again but ima be real i don’t even make music idk these are so entertaining it’s cool seeing what’s going on in these songs i love thanks for this!😊
love your energy!
Your videos hit different, really appreciate you sharing the knowledge 🙏🔥
I've learnt a lot from this tutorial. Brilliant, thanks. Just getting back to working on my tune after a trip back to UK and Poland and being affected by Covid and then the flu for a month, which rendered me very unproductive. This really gives me some ideas, especially the filtering and vocal part for my new tune. Awesome!
Awesome video thanks!
Thanks for such a great breakdown video.
Heck yah, dude. Great energy, great info! :)
Fred Again.., classically trained, mentored by Eno, and in the end, to me it sounds like most of the current commercial stuff. What I mean to say is, emphasizing that stuff does him no favors. If he would be announced as “prolific young producer making contemporary popular dancefloor soundtracks to enjoy at the club with your favorite beverage in hand”, I’d say good job, go for it Fred! But I’m old enough to remember Eno’s music coming out and that stuff was fresh. He was about Fred’s age when he released My Life in the Bush of Ghosts and it was next level and it still stands out today. So those are some lofty expectations to be fulfilled… Other than that, thanks Oscar, great info as usual!
love your lessons!
appreciate the explanations!
❤🙏
Thanks so much for your videos!
Oscar, also jumping in here to share my gratitude for you. Your material and lessons are always increíble, and we all very much appreciate your thoroughness, attention to detail, and love for the music. You are the best production teacher out there. Keep it up.
Much love 🙏🏻😊
Great video. Thank you.
Very good practical tips with the occasional theory mixed in for spice. Thank you very much!
Underdog, I think people are loving this video because you mostly treat it like a DJ set. By teaching in real time with the beat looping, the tutorial is so much more enjoyable. I hate production videos that never drop the beat. Get it dude!
Nice dissection, thanks a ton!
You are the best electronic music education channel on CZcams. The way you break things down is so phenomenal, where others will jump right into high level terminology that I often struggle to grasp.
great lesson... loving to learn
Really interesting stuff , definitely will rewatch
Great video, love the techniques geared towards a certain artist, and love Fred again
oh, these sweaters here and there appearing in different videos :)
love them!
i love your video style. So simple.
🙌 duuuude you’re a legend 😁❤️

Damn thank you man. Not just the tips but for reminding me how much I love music theory
This is so dope!
Boy when I hear that guy explaining music I’m melting away to a world full of composing and satisfaction from what I get and what learned)
🥰
Just found your channel from this video. Awesome video I guess I’m gonna have to subscribe
Great job, thank you ❤
Great breakdown of his methodology, thank you!
thank you🙏
Awesome video, thank you!
Great content. Thanks for the tips!
Quality as always 💎
I agree with your point about low quality vs. high quality being just "a vibe". Some of my favorite songs I've ever made or worked on had some of the elements or even the main element (melody or lead vocal) start off from a low quality place and then processed to be beautiful, or sometimes even just pasted into the track candid as a sample or element and its just a reminder that not every work of art has to be this big bold and brash piece. Sometimes things can be simple, rough around the edges, and still be pretty and beautiful.
Love you man thanks 👍
Thanks!
Legend ! great tutorial
Fantastic video thank you!
Amazing tips as always!
