I’m 13 Years post RNY and became a full-blown alcoholic. What this doctor says about the surgery and alcohol happened to me and I lost everything and almost my life. I tried everything I could to get sober for many years. I am now almost 11 months sober and very healthy and happy but will never be complacent because the disease doesn’t take a break and have seen many people relapse.
We're so sorry for what you've gone through...and very happy to hear you have found freedom from this problem.
RNY 2008. Didn't have that first beer for about 5 years post op. Ended up with 1+ bottle of wine equiv a night for over 7 years. Now sober almost a year. This man speaks the truth!
i had my surgery a year ago and lost like 170 pounds, i feel amazing but i definitely had an alcohol addiction for about 3 months and it was the worst 3 months ever. i thank my fiancée every day for being so amazing because i stopped for us and it disgusted me how i was changing because of alcohol. never again
I became an alcoholic after RNY. I've lost 330 pounds, but I lost my life to alcohol. I never drank prior to having gastric bypass. I didn't get treated for food addiction, so I transferred my addiction to alcohol. My mother in law did the same thing. My son has cirrosis of the liver from alcohol. I believe I caused his illness.
5% compared to the alcoholism rate in the general population?
😊
You’re right, it's a fact that quitting booze not only makes your world a better place to be in, good things start to “magically” happen and the energy is insane! Steffon Barkload's Quit Drinking Forever, that’s the best shortcut I go’ogled that took less than a week to work without suffering withdrawal.
