I almost never have issues with a project crashing while editing, but the rendering issues are horrible. There's almost always an "error producing frame" error. And then you have to start ALL over.
Fix the render errors and let us "save our progress" so we can continue a failed render from a certain point.
PREACHHH
Sometimes I need to export my projects before they’re finished just to see the project in a file so that it can actually render the effect I’m working on
Did you try Red Camera Footage ?
Same experience here! Editing is great but rendering is often very unstable. 4K30 ProRes source and H.265 or H.264 export; an exercise in frustration every time.
also to anyone else having problems, check preferences->media->enable hardware accelerated encoding and decoding (check this box and restart premiere)

@DODI VINES PRODUCTION No, not anymore. Ever since the new Davinci Resolve 16th update, It's been really good for Video Editing, and Color Grading as well.
@DODI VINES PRODUCTION wrong
DODI VINES PRODUCTION lol
@DODI VINES PRODUCTION wow you really don't know what you're talking about 😂
And sure final cut is smooth, let's all buy super overprised machines with basically no options for self repairing or upgrades and constant cooling issues to run a software that's over 10 years old at this point 😂
Theres a reason why tons of industry professionals left fc after the FCX update. Just as theres a reason why tons of industry professionals are leaving premiere for DaVinci resolve these past few years.
@DODI VINES PRODUCTION Dude what?
Your employees?? You state that you are 17, who are you trying to fool?
I only ever worked with Premiere, Resolve and have seen much of FCPX.
I can't tell how good AVID is, but it's the standard so I think at least it was really good.
Premiere is a mess, FCPX is limited to Apple and it's shitty attitude. But Resolve is the standard for color grading and gets better and better.
Its editing capabilities are already on par with premieres and it has fusion integrated.
There is a reason why many people are switching to resolve and maybe resolve will dethrone AVID one day. But it takes time for major production houses to switch their systems.
One of my projects got corrupted right before I was ready to export. It was a nightmare. I had spent so much time on it and I thought I lost everything. I was only able to save it after exporting an old auto save. Other than that I've had pretty good luck with Premiere.
I felt that. Been there.
doesn't Creative cloud back up your projects...for the record I always keep a copy of the project in another location as well as CC backup

@@fitness2008 No I guess Not really
@@fitness2008 exactly, I have been there too, 3 weeks of hardword and the next time I switched on the PC and opened the file, it was currupted but it was auto saved multiple times and just my 2 min of progress was lost.
AE and Premiere kind of backup automatically, after certain number of actions or a certain intervals I guess.
So never lost any big project.
The other day I was on the tail end of a 36 min long project that I had worked on for about two weeks. Premirere decided to crash, and since then I have lost any motivation to begin editing the project again. Cmon adobe, its a great program, but its hard to use it when it crashes every few hours.
What version did you use?
Adobe gets greedy nowadays, i'm not renting software
I'm not totally against renting it; it could be kinda like Netflix... but it's more expensive. And I just need it every other month (/year, even), so their "monthly" plan (where you have to agree to pay for 12 months anyway . - .) won't do for me
I'd like to switch to Davinci Resolve, buttt, Premiere still runs WAY better in my meh computer rip
I ended up using a buddy’s .edu email address and use the student version. Why should I pay for a hamburger when all you get is the 2 buns?
@@drophy I don't like renting it either, I'd really like to own my own copy. But at $20 a month it's affordable. More and more software companies are only releasing "rental software" these days. I don't like the feeling of not owning anything.

I honestly have been somewhat noticing the same things on my premiere pro too. I mean it will rarely crash on me and will have good stability most of the time I use it but it definitely can be improved. I'm a rapper and I use premiere pro to edit my music videos and they take me way longer than it should for me to finish editing because of slow stability sometimes. @Cinecom.net I had a similar problem with that error message regarding "Your system's hardware does not support hardware acceleration" even though I was 100% meeting or exceeding the minimum standards. Spent hours reminding the adobe staff that they have no idea what they are talking about, to no avail. However, I did manage to accidentally solve the problem on my own and there are no videos explaining how to do this. The problem resides in the default render settings. At 4:04 you can see in your "Preset" window that it says "Custom." This is why I couldn't get my hardware acceleration to work, and I'm almost sure that this is the reason for you. Hardware acceleration only seems to work with some of the adobe presets. I use "Match Source - Adaptive High Bitrate" and BOOM problem solved. Hardware acceleration is now available in the drop down menu, and you won't get your error message. I hope this helps you guys, and anyone else reading this message. I have learned a lot watching your videos, take care!
i can always count on these dudes to release quality content for us editors!! y’all have been a real help in building my YT channel!!
The frustrating about Premiere pro is you can not see effects and transitions preview
As a music video editor this is the Most important thing for me
This is the only reason I'm going to switch to any other software
Even filmora have this feature
I wasn't updating from 2019 forever. But I was having issues with premiere and ae 2019 that would cause my renders to be at half the framerate that it should have been. Updated both to 2020 and it's been a lot smoother so far
I have so many stability issues with Premiere, not the ones you mentioned. I am unable to add some media randomly and have to close and reopen. I do have some freezes as well. On average I have to restart at least once in a 20 minute edit. The issue is I also use Photoshop and I have the over priced package so if I cancel one I will lose the other... I do have to say the exporting is a lot faster on my machine...way faster.
I absolutely agree with him. My computer isn't as good as what they have access to, but I still run into a tone of the same problems. My big one is that my masking guide lines vanish every so often, and I need to screw around with my layout for it to start working again.
What about Davinci Resolver? Make a video review 🙏🏻
I don't have the best pc in the world, that's why I thought these errors were happening, but Adobe really has to fix this.
Something that is currently broken since a few releases and is making me wanna pull my hair out: Proxies w/ Time Remapping. Constant frame jumps, the fact that you have to interpret in Premiere pro > Create Proxies > Stop Proxies > Interpret footage (again) in Media Encoder > Restart Render. And lastly, keyframing on time-remapped clips just jump all over the place. It is a HEADACHE to work with, and I've never had these issues in past releases. I've been having it for over 6 months now!
any good and alternative for Premiere Pro ?
Talking about stability... I really prefer Vegas Pro or DaVinci Resolve.
Vegas pro timeline is better then premiere & davinci, but vegas rn struggle with fundings after sony sold vegas
@@DatoAliffAlex i really liked Vegas but had to leave it for this reason
That is the exact reason why I switched to Final Cut a few years ago.
I learned on adobe and have been using it for years. Last month I couldn't handle paying the high monthly cost for unstable software. I am now using Davinci Resolve Studio and haven't looked back yet!
in many cases I have to rename my mp4 files to mts in order to get rid of some red-background error messages in the lower right corner :/
maybe its time i have been editing with davinci for a while now. Who else has switched here?
recently switched to resolve
I really miss viewing the keyframes visually in the effects controls. I just hate it! I wish they implement it there. And Of course, I miss After Effects integration- Fusion is a bit odd for motion graphics. Less Templates, Tutorials is a bit disappointing- Hope people blow this up!
I started with resolve but premiere works better for me
@@krizsan0596 i can understand what you mean
For me resolve is easier to use but once you learn to use premiere it has a lot more functionality. Also resolve seems to be less resource intensive.
Oh damn, must be really hard for you. Goodluck! Keep up the good work
I use auto reframe all the time because I create a lot of social media clips from speakers on stage. I'm not sure if the newest update made it better, but they did make different. Instead of the keyframes being applied to the motion area, the motion fx is turned off and the keyframes show up within the auto reframe fx.
The thing I'm mostly excited about with this newest update is the option in Essential Graphics to justify the text to the top, middle of bottom of your text box. It's such a small thing but I love it!!
I STRONGLY agree with you on that, I want to add that Adobe After Effects 2020 is not good, I still using 2019 version, also Photoshop 2020 is not stable! I don't know why! my machine should handle the projects smoothly but I god A LOT of crushes, unfortunately....! The only reason I didn't switch yet, is that I use the dynamic links between adobe apps and I can imagine my workflow without this.
Plz makes tutorials on davinci resolve🙏
Check out billy rybka on youtube
OMG, i have the random slow while editing all the time! I love premiere but god damn bro ;-;
Love the in-depth analysis of the new release! I feel like there's still stability improvements to be made and further integration of using GPU resources would be nice. If it could slice through compressed codecs like DaVinci, that would be huge.
Hey Jordy! You pinpointed a lot of my thoughts about Premiere in this episode. Nicely done! There's one info that is a little bit incorrect though. You could all shortcuts to labels for a long time now. My first video ever on YT had that tip. The new feature in 14.2 is the ability to add shortcuts to different colors of the markers. So it's a similar thing but a bit different. I've found it to be also a small but appreciated improvement :) And one last thing that I actually hate about Adobe is their support team. I have never had them solving anything I contacted them for. Not even once. I'm always just pushed from one specialist to another. The problem is that when someone knows any program as well as you know Premiere, it's extremely hard to switch to an alternative and still feel like a power user, right? :D
Cheers!
Piotr
Pliz switch to resolve, it has most of the problems in pr fixed.

Man, I'm always hesitant to update Adobe products. After Effects CC2019 wouldn't let me add stuff to render cue or render clips at all (no, also not with media encoder) and Photoshop CC2019 lags like hell with a tablet. I still use 2017 AE and 2018 Premiere/Photoshop. I feel like every time I update the performance gets worse.
Do you do all of your color grading in Premiere too? I'm at a crossroad and thinking about switching to Resolve for my personal work moving forward, but I need Premiere/AE for work. Thoughts?
Davinci!! Used premier pro for as long as I can remember. Never looked back once I went to Resolve!
Premier is actually much more stable on the Mac than on the PC. I run editing on both platforms due to workflow needs, and I never have any of these problems on the Mac, but consistently have crashes, glitches, etc, on the PC.
I also have an Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti in my editing PC (Alienware Aurora) and a Radeon RX 580 in the Mac (MacPro 2012). Both video cards have 8 GB VRAM. The Mac is slightly slower (to be expected as its older) but never has the problems the PC has, which are exactly as Geordie opines.
I also have the pro version of Da Vinci Resolve (with the Dongle that I paid several hundred $s for) and have been using it to do color correction and grading since 2008. As it has gotten more and more bloated over the years, I find myself using it less and less.
Premier worked like crap on my computer until I figured out a piece of hardware in my PC was not allowing Windows update to update correctly(The little Wi-Fi connection card with the little antenna). I removed the faulty hardware and then Windows update could update correctly and then Premier has been stable ever since for a couple years! I’m beginning to think there are known hardware problems with windows that mess with Premiere.
Hardware encoding is definitely glitchy. I think the problem is implementation. For example, if they could just give us a choice of H.264 Nvenc in the drop down, that might have resolved all of the issues. When using Handbrake, I can choose NVENC specifically as a codec, and then I don't have a limitation of number of passes or anything else. And it works great in Handbrake. But in Adobe Media Encoder I was able to export using hardware encoding first (also by limiting passes to one), but not anymore, no matter what I do.
2018, 19 and early 20 would always crash when I'd try to 'save as' or select export location. Current build of 2020 finally fixes that. BUT! it's now laggy af, and basic things like LUTs cause even small files to play back at like 10fps randomly.
2020 isn't that ba-

Your thoughts?
Thanks for this video. I just started learning Premiere Pro (version 14.30). I'm using an RTX 2070-S card and I've had one crash so far, when I was attempting to apply Cinematic LUTS. I got an error message and had to restart the program because everything went monochrome. I'm hoping Adobe continues to stay on top of this program because my big concern is what you described re: corrupted project files I've put a lot of work into. Maybe it makes sense to save an extra copy of your project files?
WHAT I NEVER CLICKED THAT FAST
I really dont care, I just love every software of 2019 version, they are best. 👊
Other annoying bugs: put in and out marks on timeline, export, watch playback, there's black at the beginning or end.
Working on a long project. Trim a clip you've worked on a while ago. The now trimmed clip has bled into the next clip so now that clip also has to be retrimmed and so on.
I was ready to switch to DaVinci, but this newest update to Premiere so far seems to be very very stable - NO crashes or glitches - and there were many kinds of problems before. Including when a sequence would become bugged and multicam would crash the program about 25 percent of the time when changing a multicam clip to a different camera track. But now - I'm actually super happy with the stability. Just my personal experience - yours might be different.
