I agree with you very much. Honestly I haven't been excited for an "adult" movie in a long time. Yes it's partially the cast but he does serious As good as he does funny and I can't wait. Also to see some of the other stars work with him will be nice as they give off the same vibes so to speak.

My dad is severely overweight and now it's finally taking its horrific toll on his health as he reaches the end of his life - the anger, sadness, and love that I know Sadie's and Brendan's character will have for each other is why we watch movies. I want to thank everyone involved in making this film because it's incredibly poignant for me
@Brendan Fraser vs The Truth the reality is that people do make mistakes, like not trying to have a relationship with their kids, etc. that they come to later regret. Is it better to just keep making that mistake until you die or is it better to at least try and rectify some of the damage you've done? And by that way of thought, should people grow and learn from their choices at all? Maybe it takes near death to come across to some people and that sucks, but you're saying it's not worth even trying to make things better at a certain point?

How precious that moment is between Brendan and Sadie. It must be refreshing to work with someone who doesn’t know you from any previous movies you did in the past and isn’t comparing you to the person you used to be.
Brendon deserves an Oscar just for being who he is. Such a beautiful humble human being.

Sadie Sink is truly something special. I had the same reaction when I first saw her as Max in Stranger Things. She has an amazing talent.

I can't watch the movie without crying. Him saying "I'm sorry" everytime he thinks he's done something wrong broke me in half.
The presence of Sadie Sink alone makes this film a Must-See. The young woman is extremely talented and everything she touches turns to gold!
Brendan arrived as goofy, loud heartthrob, went away, and returned as meek, humble father-figure. As many difficulties as there apparently were between the two eras of his career, I'm glad he's back and hope he makes the most of it.

My dad is in his early 60s. He's very overweight and has been severely depressed for years, about that among other things. He's been in and out of the hospital but has pretty much refused to lift a finger to help himself. My family thinks he's actively trying to die. It's exhausting. Dunno why I felt like sharing that but there you go.

@Brendan Fraser vs The Truth that’s not what I was saying. But they both admitted in this interview to having had stepped away from their careers. And in Brendan’s case being forced out of his. So this is, in a sense, a return of their passion for the medium. Feeling to motivated and strong enough to get back into doing what they love.
@Brendan Fraser vs The Truth still doesn’t mean he wasn’t affected by what happened. Just because he has small roles doesn’t mean a damn thing. The guy obviously went through some shit you can see it all over his face. Whatever venture you’re on really seems rather pointless. In fact he admitted to the snowball affect that all those events caused. It wasn’t just the allegations he claimed it’s also his wife leaving him, back surgery gone wrong. The inability to be as mobile as he was because of injuries. The guy slipped into a massive depression and you can tell. So throw away whatever “facts” you think you know. This goes beyond all that.
The only thing that will make me watch next years Oscars is if Brendan is nominated. That show has gone completely down the drain the past two years, but I wish this guy the best. So rare to witness such an authentic and humble guy in a sea of superficial, Hollywood dross.

That in itself has nothing to do with his life story. When I see it Ill base my oppinion solely on his performance and nothing else.
I have loved this man since I was 10 years old and saw The Mummy in theaters. He is a gem of a human and deserves all the success he is earning.
Seeing brendan back and doing interviews again is a gift in itself he has done so much in films in the way of thrilling and entertaining us his smile is truly captivating and mesmerising some actors who do interviews can be hard to watch but brendan is the kind of person you can just listen to him speak he is one of a kind and a legend
Having read about all that Brendan has endured and conquered, my heart wants to hug him every time I see him. Though there are painful ties to the production of The Mummy, I have watched it countless times, I believe, _because_ Brendan is such a lovely human. He was playing a character but the sweet and funny man he is in real life is what made that movie a success. It brings me such joy to see how many people have stood by him in his vulnerability, and I hope that this love and compassion will stifle the toxicity we have seen from so many in Hollywood. Let us strive for kindness in this world and be the change we wish to see!

Yes! From the time we saw Sadie in season two, I loved her. As time has gone on, wow...just wow. She has such beautiful talent, such depth and sincerity that is hard to come by these days. How can none of these actors mention 'Encino Man'? I also really liked him in 'Blast from the Past' which gets basically no recognition.
Oh yes, i love him in Blast from the past with Alicia Silverstone. And a very nice romantic comedy movie. In addition, his dramatic chops were an instant revelation in School Ties. He and Matt Damon were both great in that movie.
Encino Man was one of the first movies I saw on my own. It was so much fun - still makes me smile when I hear the title.
Brendan has been through so many things in his life and has survived it all. I am really hoping this role leads him to a happier life. He was a master of silly in George of the jungle and comedy is so hard. He deserves all the best!

As a Canadian ….. so proud of Brendan coming back. Must of been very difficult for many years for him…. And THE WHALE probably took a lot of emotional weight off of him…. And that is why he is also so amazing in this role…. Oscar for best actor I wish for him. Because there was as much deep personal emotional weight within him and combining this with his acting as a professional actor…. He achieved something remarkable in his performance. Brendon is going to win this Oscar, and when he does it will represent a changing of the guard in Hollywood. Meaning that, no longer will Hollywood be led by these gate keepers that stand in the way of peoples careers based off of personal feelings or vendettas or other unscrupulous behaviors. Maybe Hollywood can get back to being about talent and true acting ability. Just not pretty faces and who can put butts in seats. Because until we change this guard, we will never get great movies back on the silver screen. It will be SQL after sequel of the same old that we’ve seen for 30 years.
I don’t know about anybody else, but I appreciated films so much more before the 2000s. Because even the lowest budget pictures like anything, Kevin Smith made or something like Napoleon Dynamite was able to be made, and turned themselves into hits by endearing the audiences to them. They didn’t need big-name actors, they just needed a chance for people to see them and word-of-mouth to spread. Movies like The Whale give great writers, and great actors a chance to revel in the process and enjoy the fruits of their labors when they see human reaction from moviegoers.
Which I think is the ultimate goal. Make people feel something. It used to be, you could leave the theater and feel better about yourself or your life before you went in. They were inspiring, they were tearjerking, and nothing was off the table, as far as content. Now, with this woke movement, everybody’s afraid to say, or do anything. We have to realize as human beings, that we are not perfect and we are never going to be that way. We are born into this world with a clean slate, it’s the mistakes that we make in life that make us better people by learning from them. It makes us who we are, and who we grow to be.
Movies are a big part of that, because they show us the humanity. That is in everyone of us… If others give us the chance to show it. Brendon is a shining star in the current dimly lit, superficial world of Hollywood. His brand of humility and humanity is what endear people to him. Somethings that very few others can say. Because they don’t allow themselves to be vulnerable for two seconds long enough for people to see the person inside of them and not just the superficial exterior.
