While I agree wholeheartedly with you, whenever you are representing your country (whether elected or gifted by who you are) you should be wearing a designer from your country, especially when the presidential policy was buy American, wear American. Also, in private industry or public most women could be written up for some of the inappropriate choices (think pink mini skirt suit) in Japan, definitely not business attire.

It’s not a matter of whether or not the outfits are cute. They are very cute. They aren’t appropriate for the role she is filling at the events she’s wearing them to.
The pink mini dress, the green dress with blow away sleeves, stiletto heels are not an image of a serious business woman. A suit with an a-line or straight skirt which at least meets the knee while standing is more appropriate. Sitting and the world looking up your short skirt is not acceptable.
I think Ivanka knows what 'Appropriate' means and that is why she looks very nice in what she chooses to wear. What may be inappropriate to some is a matter of opinion and that is all.
