I think sometimes we over look the fun element of spending, as long as people are sensible it is actually fun to spend on a game. It can be a new experience for some like it was for me and I've enjoyed it and not regretted spending a single penny. There really is nothing like Diablo Immortal. Like you say, if you chase the immortal power aspect yes the spending can go crazy, but nothing in this game forces you to do that.
Although I’m f2p I see spending on video games as no different than buying movie tickets and $10 on a box of popcorn, or hundreds to go to a sporting event or concert. It’s just an entertainment expenditure.
The only thing I ever spend in this game was five bucks season 12 bp, I only have 3600 reso. I wouldn't recommend this game to new players, I highly doubt they can unlock all the raids by themselves. The pity for 50 leg crest have separate counters for eternal and bound, and the year only have 52 weeks. If you are unlucky even doing warband raid and the fading embers every week, it will take 6 months to get a unbound 5 star gem. Definitely not a good game if you are solo f2p.
i have 2.4k res and i pay for bp and bop with com rat at 36.7 k .also i buy things from time to time if there is a really good price. so you must be very very lucky to strike 3.6 as almost f2p.
People that don’t do as well generally blame it on whales immediately. There are so many angles to the game beyond resonance. Not doing well at PvP doesn’t mean anything. Much of the game is pve. PvP is based on many factors as well like balance which BG isn’t really as balanced as many will agree. Add in the bugs…it doesn’t seem very fun for a lot of people. Overall it really is a fun game. I will say that for being a mobile game there is too much on the screen. Allow text and chat to be turned off including the storylines of dungeons. I’d like to see the screen more than feel like I’m watching an American news channel while fighting to see what’s on the screen.
its p2w only if you want to be top in pvp. i dont. i found clan that have players that want that (pvp,immortal regin ...) and us that are not that much ready to pay. and i have been a several time immortal plus one blessed reg. Most of the clans are not toxic and there is great friendly players in them. DI is good solid game.
Fishing was a flop to me personally....waiting 3 mins per fish wasnt worth it for me. Looking forward to new mechanics they come up with to change it up
I don't even do open work farm😅. The only time I'm open world killing monster is either testing new essence or collecting monster essence I still lack to claim the daily 100% drop bestiary. Most my scrap dust are from random dungeon, lair and survival bane😊. I do find terror rift and hellslayer better than running circles open world for legendary.
I'm quitting, been playing 3 months, I've caught up with a lot but it's now becoming obvious my secondary stats will never catch up not matter what I do, there's no catch up bonuses for normal gems or aspirant keys..shame really because I enjoyed the game. I get that day 1 players will always want to be ahead of a newer player but I think res is enough for that. There should be a way to grind and catch up with all stats other than gem resonance. If I'm wrong about secondary stats somebody let me know please. If not...see you in Tarisland
Catching is impossible because there is no scale for reso nornal gems. Everyone has different stats. Some have been selling their normal gems for years now or using them for upgrade but they could potentially go up 9k if a player spend ton of money. 2k plus Is a good placr to start and then setting a goal to 3k should be next. Its possible as f2p.
You will eventually get close to the majority. As a rule you should never sell gems. That will help. Most of us now it takes so many gems to upgrade we are progressing way slower than you potentially could. However, i do agree with you that it’s way too much for new players to have to do. Weve been getting rank 1 normal gems for drops but they really should have changed it to rank 2, 3 dropping with time. This would allow new players to close the gap much faster and also allow current players to close the gap with high spenders. The greed in this game is astounding but ive enjoyed myself over the years.
Don’t listen to this joker. It’s F2P or as much as you want to put in and succeed. The ONLY thing that’s P2W is the Immortal battles. You can do ANY PVE with any good grind and get your player up. You can do BG since they match the resonance level with other players or close to. On rare occasions you will be matched with whales if they can find a good match up. During events PVP, everything is leveled to 60, This guy is complaining cause his skills is not up to par
Many features still p2w but, for me, the key to success is in the grind

The marketplace changes rigging is a huge blow to f2p and BP players.
