I really had high hopes for this product. I used to go to a Dominican lady who did Keratin treatments on my hair. My hair was soft, healthy and smooth and it grew like crazy with Keratin. Fast forward a year later, I had moved and my hairdresser was too far, so I found someone else and she convinced me that BASIC was way better than Keratin. I got the BASIC shampoo and conditioner and all. I am not sure if my hairdresser applied it wrong or if it's just not for me, but BASIC has dried my hair out so badly, my hair looks and feels like hay - split ends and everything. With that, I will have to go back to keratin, because I don't want to spend another $400 or compromise my hair any further for BASIC.
My stylist does this same process with my natural hair for years using regular products with just natural leave in conditioner under my plastic cap and some type of straightener or hair press on each part as sure works through my hair. She uses Kara Care, but you can use any products with this method.

My hair is naturally curly, I have to tease it when it dries so that it doesn't look like a jheri curl. I told my stylist that I wanted to have looser curls and was not expecting my hair to look like it did 5 years ago. I tried scrunching it which only helps a little I can tell where it's curling up a little, and I'm not expecting it to be how it was before. But I dang sure wasn't expecting what's going on now... I don't even feel comfortable wearing my hair down because it looks funky and makes me want to cry.... So I'm just curious how did others turn out after they washed their hair... If you had the same issue what did you do?
I had that same issue and I have naturally curly hair. When I washed my hair the ends were broken and looked heat damaged. I had to cut off the damaged ends and deep condition weekly. I also used hair masks & a protein treatment once per mth while the hair grows bk out for my new hair growth. I will give this product a no for me. I rather texlaxing for more manageable hair with my hair curly hair type.
Iroc314072 yes I have clients who alternate with straight and curly styles while on the system. When wearing hair in the natural state the smoothing system eliminates the extra frizz and in some cases elongated the curl a bit. While on the system it is best to return to the stylist every 2 weeks or purchase the different shampoos/ conditioners recommend while on the system. Hope this helps.

This lady did way too many passes. I do one slow pass on my clients hair and it works marvelously! It has really helped them grow their hair out, as well!
No, I went out of town and had my sister stylist do my hair.....I had an afro puff at the end of the dance....just forgot all about my BASIC. I have used it for over 2 years....I'm hair is silky smooth and DOES resist humidity when applied.
Has anyone found anything that is extremely similar to this? They don’t make it anymore and my results with another smoothing system is no where near this!

I noticed she used gloves when applying. What is in it that gloves need to be used? Two, does it take you more passes. She did 3 passes on each part?

If the heat setting is 450F then this is the temperature that will denature tge hair causing heat damage
I have the exact same problem. My hair is so dried out, my hair literally looks like a birds nest.

I never understood why people who claim to love their curls so much go and get treatments like this.
