- This organic chemistry video tutorial provides a basic introduction into the reactions of ethers and epoxides. It discusses the williamson ether synthesis reaction as well as the production of ethers using the alkoxymercuration demercuration reaction. The full version of this video contains example problems of acid catalyzed cleavage of ethers in addition to acid catalyzed and base catalyzed cleavage of epoxides. In addition, it discusses the synthesis of epoxides from alkenes using a peroxyacid such as MCPBA and by means of the halohydrin formation reaction.

Number of students who are going to receive 95% 👍👍👍👇🏽🤗
100% setting it in stone
96% for me🥳🥳
Nerds 😂 🤡
Nah, I’m gonna get like a 60%, a third of class was canceled because of weather but the test wasn’t rescheduled
@@kirayoshikage1491that’s just cruel
When the world needs him the most,
*he’s back*
On the entire internet, there’s no one better than Ochem tutor at giving such precise and well thought out classes. Even friends from top tier universities watch his videos to get better understanding than their professors who taught over twenty years and still confuses students .
Organic chemistry tutor has always been the best for me , I'd rather watch his lesson than attend a class.
It's so effective.
Thank you for all your hard work making these videos. You are my favorite tutor on the internet.
I appreciate the fact that u are my teacher and a millions of student
We are so lucky to have u tnx
Sir my hobby is to study chemistry n I have watched all ur chemistry video n get high marks
Wow greattt
@@conanedogawa5722 thanks
I agree he's pretty good with his step-by-step process explaining what needs to be explained. And kudos to you for making learning a hobby because that indeed is the beauty of attaining knowledge isn't it.. when people make habit in practice of learning the world around them it makes for better living conditions.. thanks for being one of those people 😁🙏
This is good..
This is good..
とてもわかりやすいです!
We're about to go over ethers and epoxides in my class, so this is so helpful. Thank you!
Hey I know it's been awhile, but I just came across your comment and was curious. How'd the rest of your class go?
@@PunmasterSTP it was great! I aced the class ;)
@@PhoenixBlade538 Sweet! 👍
@@Mayank_11111 Thanks for asking, and oh man, I took ochem a long time ago! I just tutor people in various math and science subjects, which is the reason I go back to these videos, and I like randomly checkin in with the commenters. My classes did end up going well, and if you took ochem too, I hope it was the same!
Chemistry isnt even one of my subjects but im here , that how much we love you 🥰❤
Thank you so much for all your videos.Realy been of great help to me
Thank you so much! You're a life saver ❤️
I needed this bad thank you 🙏
I swear you are the most helpful person. Will you consider doing a Microbiology series? I start Monday and want to finish my final prereqs with all A’s. Next step, nursing!
That's great to hear! How have your studies been going?
@@PunmasterSTP Studies are going great! I’m finishing my last semester of Nursing, graduating in December! Thanks again for all your help!
@@Calliekodabennycain That's great to hear, and I wish you the best of luck in your future career! Also, just to be clear, I'm not The Organic Chemistry Tutor, but just a commenter passing by...
ive been on this channel for hours cramming for my midterm and my brain is fried
Thank you once again.
There we no epoxides in this video, but otherwise loved it! Thank you.
mad cuz bad
Which platform do you use to write and draw things for your videos?
could you please explain more about epoxidation via vicinal halohydrin I appreciate that.
Thank you so much
Man your vedioes are really gr8
than u. for every think.. ur student.. from Yemen Arabia..
Ethers and epoxides? More like "Amazing information inside!" These videos are simply beautiful.
More like “no info on epoxides unless you pay” 🙄 this video was a waste of time
@@zoehicks880More like "I personally found it helpful but I can see how it's not for everyone, and I hope your studies are going alright." 😃
Right on time for the new trimester
Trimester? Are you pregnant? 😂😂😂
Even if this isn’t in my lesson yet. I just view and give a like and wait in the future until this becomes a part of our lesson.
Love your videos, i am a university student in Pakistan and your lectures helo me alot, great work sir.
How have your studies been going?
@@PunmasterSTP good
Big fan from India Sir
Do you have an example many example of tangent circle and secant circle
Hi the organic chemistry. I am planning to make educational contents. Do you have any advise for me?
Welcome teacher
unironically the most supportive comments section i've ever seen
Can you make a video on epoxide ring opening?
So I wanna know if these videos are actually effective: can y’all post what grades you got in organic 1? Use the following scale: A, B, C, or D
I do not have grades, but if you have heard of the jee advanced exam in India. I use these videos to brush up my concepts. It's given me a very strong foundation. will probably give you one too :)
I got a 68/100 on my first prelim before I found him. I got a 78/100 on my second prelim discovering him midway. My third prelim is in a week. I'll come back and hopefully my score went up some more 🤞
last semester i used his videos a lot and finished w a B in o chem I, im currently in o chem II
I got.a 100
The hardest part is honestly memorizing the reagents you need (90% of the struggle in ochem)
4:50 why doesn't the tert-butoxide act as a base and eliminate the chlorine to form an alkene?
Because steric hinderances on bulky bases cause them to act as bases instead of nucleophiles
Jay’ crisp sorry i should’ve been clearer but i meant why can it not take a hydrogen from the carbon and form an alkene, kicking off the Cl (E2 elimination)
@@michaelspltwrng well elimination and substitution are often competing pathways. I think for this one there is probably a *minor* elimination product, how minor it is idrc to check but you could figure it out by checking bond dissociation energy etc. I think the intermolecular substitution is just favorable in terms of enthalpy. You wouldnt be wrong if you said there was some amount of elimination
@@michaelspltwrng also remember substitution is highly highly favored under primary substrates
Why doesn’t 4:30 example leave you with an alkene? Chloride is a decent leaving group.
yes you're right but it will be a minor product due to the tertbutyl oxide being bulky. As it is bulky, its tendency to attack as a nucleophile will be less.
m wide. He planted trees 15m apart along the width of the farm to act as wind breakers. How many trees did he plant?
2. From town x to town y poles are planted 25km apart. If the number of poles used are 25, what is the distance between the two towns?
3. Trees were planted along a road 5.5km on both sides. If the distance between them is 25m. How many trees were planted?.
Please can you solve questions like these?
💀
The title of the video is too confusing - considering the fact that epoxides don't even get mentioned! Please correct the title!
love you
Are you kidding me where have u been.... teacher u literally lost i miss ur lessons
man the comments are fucked this early after the upload
Not first
Let's revise homologous series
Nah but for real, the Hardest Ether reaction is when Nas dropped it on Jay's birthday December 4th. God's Son across the Belly.
