She is actually a dead married woman who wears *bangles* or *shakha* (Bangladeshi adornment) from where the word shakchunni came . Shakha is The symbol of Hindu married women in the Bangladeshi villeges . It is a myth of village people that when the married women go outside of home in the dark , they need to take anything like stick or metalic , because Shakchunni fears it . If a woman don't do so , then she will attack her , disguise herself like the victim and start living with the victims husband . This story is told also for threatening children so that they don't go outside without permission.
