A thought about a loved person that has passed. "The world changes from year to year, our lives from day to day, but the love and memory of you, shall never pass away." Mom was there with you Carol........... 💞
It just occurred to me that being so close to the border with all its issues! You may not wish to comment, but do you carry any personal protection in case any bad guys turn up?
Two excellent videos re the Devils Highway in far S Arizona. Thank you for the sterling photos and commentary & the sense of solace and serenity in that country . I have a close friend, ecology Ph.D, he accompanied two resource rangers in the backcountry mountains of Organ Pipe National Monument, weeks ago, looking for & noting "tinajas" (water tanks) that potential wildlife could use. The humility & longing re family that had passed , was touching.
😢 aww Carol you had me crying. Windmills remind me of my gran way back when I was a little girl in Africa (that’s where I’m from) and I remember laying on the grass looking up at the windmill thinking what a beautiful majestic piece of invention, the windmill was on her land. Beautiful upload have a wonderful day family! ❤
I very sorry your feeling the loss of your Mom during the trip. It’s is something how certain things set of a lovely memory that makes our heart ache for the person. We loved. I lost my mom a little over a year ago and it happens to me as well. I did love that the blades on the windmill was her waving at you. ❤❤❤
Hang in there Carol , I know how you feel , Don't worry they are all just right around the corner , and we will all see our mommys again , One Sweet Day . Aloha Carol . Its ok .
All of you need to go to Africa , you get on so well all together. You will realize & experience the highs & lows , the beautiful scenery you won't beat it. The languages, culture etc. NZ CHEERS TO ALL
So sorry sweetheart I miss my mom too but I feel her in the wind and remember her love for flowers and her family. Enjoy your family thank you for sharing your journey.😊
The first windmill (water pump) under the Australian trade name Southern Cross was in 1903. This windmill was a new design and was an immediate success.
Carol, your vulnerability is beautiful because we, whose mothers have passed, could feel how the windmill made a connection and memorial for you of your mother, just as each of us get to touch back in time, mentally and emotionally through other personal means and connect to memories of such an important person in our lives. And then your conclusion such as "teach me to number my days that i may grow a heart of wisdom". Take care in this precious time of mourning a time and person that is past, and yet future, and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Loved the memories. We spent about a week traveling and camping along the Camino del Diablo back in 1992 in the #sandshipdiscovery. Carol, I can relate to your deep feelings and memories. ❤😢
Fantastic location 👌. It reminds me of the movies of Clint Eastwood same type of locations. However very enjoyable journey 😊 thanks 🙏 to all of you for this wonderful 👍 free trip 😊 with you all 💕.
Awesome video as always EFRT. This was a epic adventure a lot of heart felt moments and beautiful and unique scenery truly a bucket list place to drive. Thanks for letting us ride along with y'all on y'all's adventures.
Absolutely love the "new" intro. Windmills also have a soft spot in my heart although here in Ireland 🇮🇪 are not as many as back "home" in South Africa 🇿🇦... 🤠
After watching Dan’s video and feeling wore out and tired, sore muscles not so much on this one. 😊 though I definitely enjoyed this video! Thanks for taking us along and sharing with us.
My truck was substantially dirtier after taking that trail last year. I think there is still mud from that desert in my truck and driveway. Great videos!
Pretty sure there are loads of us out here who have lost close loved ones recently who are sharing your tears. You made a wonderful comparison- we are each in our own season. How I hope and pray that anyone missing a loved will feel the community of people who are also grieving their loved one but also sharing and understanding those feelings. It helps to realize others are feeling those same feelings. I look forward to the time when sadness is not the primary feeling-it will always be there but the good memories will eventually be primary. Blessings on you all and know that many people are grieving with you.
Amazing content as usual 👍🖖✌️. My dad may he RIP passed away in 9-1997 , I go months without thinking about him. Then I see something, go to a place , hear a song ,watch a movie then boom I can’t stop thinking about him for a few days 🫤🥺. It gets better ( doesn’t hit as hard ) with time
Thoughts are with you. I lost my step dad, my mom, and dad in 2020 and just had two brothers pass, one November and my oldest 7 weeks later. It is easy to get triggered with feelings when you least expect it.
Yes the different seasons of life…. Patents gone to glory and our babies so grown up and scattered in distant states. … I’m there with you in those emotions.
You just never know when grief will roll over you like the tides and sometimes it seems the smallest thing can set it in motion and then it recedes again. Carol, I do think this is how those we love stay in touch and over time those tears are mixed with more smiles. The important thing is the presence and memories these occurrences give us. I take great comfort in knowing my Mum is right there, hovering a bit above me, always nearby and if I am not paying attention, she lets me know ❤ Such landscape you have traveled through on this adventure, wow you all!! Be safe and well, Barret💕
You guys make me nostalgic and emotional at times ,every time I watch one of your adventure videos especially the ones with fellow overlanders who make equally good quality content , I get really teary...I truly wish one day I could meet you all ,even for a day, thats my heartfelt wish....till then much love from india..
There used to be a world war practice range in a lot of the deserts. I sons and I have collected bandaliers and bullets out there plus fossils when it was under salt water!!!
Carol, you had me in tears, very heartfelt. You have such a wonderful, soothing voice. I love listening to your thoughts. Also, what an epic road trip. Great filming! Thank you for sharing.❤❤❤😊
We feel what you’re going through missing your mom. My mother-in-law passed a little over a year ago. My wife misses her every day. We bought her a Windchime when she was in the hospital so she could see it every day and it’s supposed to light up at night, but it never did, after she passed, we brought it home and put it in our backyard and it lights up every night subtle things will remind you of your mother. My wife is sad every day she had a surgery and her mom was always there for her surgeries but she hasn’t been there for the last two so she’s been so sad, missing her and these times I’m glad we’re able to share these experiences with you and your family as you go through the things you’re going through
Pete, be careful lifting things up in the desert like that big piece of metal. Scorpions. I got zapped one time. Makes a bee sting feel like nothing. Enjoyed the desert video with OOA. And Carol you are so right, life goes by so fast. Enjoy every moment, keep doing what you are doing, don’t stop or slow down.
My favorite places are those where the hand of humans has been lightest and the remote places of the desert always speak to me. We will be heading to the Colorado Plateau in April. Safe travels.
Those looked like WWII Marston Mats, more properly called pierced (or perforated) steel planking (PSP), is standardized, perforated steel matting material developed by the United States at the Waterways Experiment Station shortly before World War II, primarily for the rapid construction of temporary runways and landing strips (also misspelled as Marsden matting). The nickname came from Marston, North Carolina, adjacent to Camp Mackall airfield where the material was first They were used here where I live. I remember them from a swimming pool on a military installation here. We used to have to wear flip flops cause those got so hot!
I have spent a few weeks in the Cabeza Prieta. It is amazing country! Thought I'd share some pronunciation tips on a few items...😂😂 saguaro = sa-war-o Ajo = ah-ho Always love the videos and pray for safe travels for you guys.

If you don’t shed a tear when EFRT Mom cries, you have no heart. Sending a virtual hug to Carol. 🤗
Thank you 😊 🙏🏻
