You don't have to inform your family immediately. You can talk about Islam and tell them things that they don't know like scientific facts in the Quran, Islam on the treatment of women, laws of war, etc. They might end up converting. And if you believe Islam to be true, then say your shahada. Who knows how long we have to live?

I don't know if you'll see this, but what would you say is the best way to approach learning more about Islam? I love learning about other religions, but I'm not sure where to start. There's an Islamic center near me, should I start by contacting them and asking if they offer classes? My husband has no interest in learning about Islam, so I'm also a little nervous about going to a class or learning event alone.
You should go there if you want or you should take a quran and read the translation and explanation search about it do research about islam.
