One of my favorite parts about its use in 16 is that after the tutorial it is reserved for after boss fights. It makes overcoming a major milestone on your journey feel more rewarding.

Honestly id guess your fave is either FFVI or VII.
@@MinecartWithTNT i didn't enjoy FFXVI for various reasons (i finished the game btw), for me the combat was just mindnumbing, it was just mash mash until the enemy's guard breaks, spam skills, repeat. it got dull so fast, there was no need for strategy because even on the highest difficulty the fights felt trivial. also the lack of any rpg elements in the game just disappointed me. next was the grim story, i can see a lot of people liking it but for me it was just depressing because humor always was a big part of FF games but here it's almost non-existant. and it didn't help that clive had the charisma of a brick wall. sorry for the long text but i hope that explained my point of view

Look the "Dun dun dun dun, dun dun dun dun" will always be a classic and I get it but X-2's guitar riff fucking makes me smile every time
The ones before 16 sound like success music when I win In rock paper scissors, and 16 sounds like I just killed an elder God
When it plays after defeating(or killing) an eikon after a long battle it feels cathartic.
FFIX is my all-time favorite. Even for as iconic as FFVII’s rendition is. I also like FFV.

14 (2.0) is by far my favorite tbh. Especially when you've just nailed a hard fight with a friend or two. It's so damn satisfying. Not to mention hearing the start every time you level up.
(VII is also a fuckin' bop, of course.)

I think of the most established, FF V is probably the most developed version of the Victory Fanfare. It makes sense that S-E would use this version in later retro cameo moments like the Data Install success for Dissidia FF on the PSP.
I think FF XVI's new fanfare is short but captures the traditional touch.
the results half of VIIIs always hits for me, that jazzy feel is so good. but also IXs return to the original style after VII and VIII changed the results half is a breath of fresh air.
The amount of hours I spent on FFXIV (2.00), I will always love that victory theme.
It is my favourite game and the soundtrack always floors me no matter how much I hear it example being steal reason the theme for garlean leader boss fights

Idk how or where, but I’m trying to remember. I never played any of the final fantasy games growing up but for some reason a version of this exact song was the victory music. It was an electric guitar sounding thing with the only real distinction being that the last 3 notes are a bit drawn out, but then the after part also was the same. It was some obscure flash game or whatever those games on random websites were called back then like agame and miniclip and armor gams. But for the life of me I can’t remember where.

Yeah they reuse it for certain events and moments in game still. But it's not the main victory theme anymore

My favourites were probably XIV 1.0, 3, 6 and 9.
I didn't know whose idea it was to not have the classic victory theme in the FF 13 games but that, like most of the game, was yet another shitty decision. Shame too cause the OST in general is pretty good.
Also not sure why 13 was so hesitant to use the FF fanfare nor any of the pieces the franchise was known for. It was as if the developers decided not to include them in fear of being compared to the songs from previous games in the franchise
My guess is because it was a new generation of consoles at the time (X360/PS3) and they were trying to change things up for the newest game. Now that I think about it, Final Fantasy VII did the same thing and then they said Final Fantasy IX was returning to the series roots. Maybe the same idea here? Not sure entirely

Final Fantasy VIII and XV have the best soundtracks in the franchise, but XVI is in top 5 for sure
16 is alright, but honestly, the choir is so loud I can't hear it most the time
Drums and synth too cold in 7 to be second to any of the other themes

Probably an unpopular opinion, but the post-fanfare parts of VII, VIII and X sound like the backing music for the weather report on a news channel. There is something about them that just screams “you are in a hotel room in 1998 watching CNN.” I can almost see the cgi globe spinning around to give me today’s temperatures in Hanoi and Addis Ababa when I listen to them.

This video was mainline games only and their sequels, no side stuff or collabs. Besides, the one used at the end of that fight is the one from FFXIV 2.0 anyway

Final Fantasy X was my first Final Fantasy and so is my favourite fanfare. I loved every "Traditional" version espescially Procto from 15 humming it out loud and woud love the newest version had the final note note been changed....it just sounds wrong to my ear.

This is coming from a casual but my Favs are FFVII just love the beat after the classic jingle.
Makes me feel like a badass who just took down some fodder and made it look cool.
FFXVI makes me feel like I just killed God.
And personally my fav is FFXIII 2s one, but it's weird cause I don’t think it should be a victory theme. Sounds more like an overworld theme.
