Colm's voice cuts deep. There is an unbelievable build up with high notes in his probably oldest cover of Nirvana/Heart Shaped Box. I think it is the best Nirvana cover ever and it is terribly underrated.
Now you can see why this got me to change my request last minute.
There is also almost no hint of his Irish accent in this song. That's control, right there.
I have missed this one. It is awesome. That build was masterful and so delivered the feelings of sorrow and anger. You need to listen to his cover of Hallelujah. He floats that Irish tenor even more ethereally. This is awesome but he reaches the envelope of the upper atmosphere with Hallelujah. I have listened to Colm since before he sang. At first he was composing music with his instruments. He is a fan of Critical Role and has composed Welcome to Wildmount for them as well as a lot of the atmospheric music that Matt Mercer uses as background to his campaigns 2 and 3. When he began singing during the pandemic his upper notes weren't there. He thought he had permanently damaged his ability to reach them. He has apparently been working on getting them back and it is unveiling time.
Thanks 😊
Wait. He was sitting down. For that whole thing. Sitting. Down. In a chair. Not standing. Damn.
Colm is a master at surprises. This was incredible and my brain is not sure what it just witnessed but WOW. This was...I'm just...speechless. I think I might be a little bit broken by this one.
Thank you Todd for getting this in front of DJ! What an amazing choice!
DJ, thank you for this reaction as always, this was...yeah words are not coming at all, this has broken me entirely. #HerdLove
That was heartbreakingly beautiful! I don't know how that could be improved. That was beyond impressive. WOW!!!!!
If you think this is high you should here the solo cover he did of Hallelujah. He has an amazing piercing high note in there that gives me shivers.
Hello, think it's the first time that i comment here (i watch your videos since months now, but i'm part of the silent community) ^^
It you want a song where Mr. McGuinness touch the skies with his voice, you can react to his version of "Sound of Silence". You will have all, earth-shaking bass, but also the most powerful (and delightful) chest notes that i heard from him, reminding me a little bit of Remy Zero 👌
Thank you for your reacts, i will try to comment more in the future ! ^^
(Sorry if i do mistakes, i'm basically a Frenchie 😅)
Just gonna put it out there- i massively appreciate todd!! These are my favourite colm reactions, and theyre always thanks to todd!
I have at least a few more months of Colm requests coming. Since others are getting some of the amazing small artists I had also considered requesting, I will stick with him longer
@@toddmaliepaard9777 you're giving us what we want! I for one, appreciate you and your requests! 🤣 Whenever I see he's reacted to colm I think "todds back at it again, giving the good requests"
@@monzo3974hoping Colm wins one of the weekly artist polls so DJ can get to his Hazbin Hotel cover without me changing requests again 😂
I think he did something similar in his "Disney inspired" original song
I want to get to that one eventually, but my next 3 requests are Old Norse and Dwarvish songs
Now it needs to be November for season 2 of Arcane.

Colm?
❤
No. There's nothing that he can't do. We've gotten a lot of his higher register in his older sea shanties, which you haven't really covered yet. One of my favorites of his is Óró 'Sé do Bheatha 'Bhaile, but I think you get more of his high end in his cover of Santiana. It would really be worth delving back into his older works, especially when it is just him doing a simpler three-part cover. Those are the ones that I met Colm through, and I really feel like they hold up. Maybe you could even pick two or three of his old shanties to group into one video.
Yea, his higher vocals are usually background ones, like Hells Coming With Me.
Hello bro 🎉
