  • The Guy Jerry Rice idolized...Steve Largent had arguably the best hands in NFL history he spent 14 years with the Seahawks, and, while not particularly fast, was extremely sure-handed. He was selected to the NFL Pro Bowl seven times, and was the first Seahawk to earn that honor. In 1987, Largent ended his participation in the NFLPA strike after the third and final week of the strike.
In 1989, Largent became the first Seahawks player to win the Steve Largent Award for his spirit, dedication, and integrity.[1]
When Largent retired, he held all major NFL receiving records, including: most receptions in a career (819), most receiving yards in a career (13,089), and most touchdown receptions (100). He was also in possession of a then-record streak of 177 consecutive regular-season games with a reception. He also holds the distinction as the first receiver in NFL history to achieve 100 touchdown receptions in his career.
Largent was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995, his first year of eligibility. In 1999, he was ranked number 46 on The Sporting News list of the 100 Greatest Football Players, the only Seahawk to make the list.
His #80 was retired in 1992; Largent is the first Seahawk player to be so honored...and should be given a bit more credit when the best WR argument pops up...He definitely the ultimate over achiever!
In 1994, Oklahoma's 1st District Congressman Jim Inhofe resigned to run in a special election to succeed Senator David Boren. Largent won the election to succeed Inhofe in Congress; pursuant to an Oklahoma statute, Governor David Walters designated the special election in which Largent was elected to serve the remainder of Inhofe's term in the 103rd Congress,

Steve Largent is the best WR in the history of NFL. His ability to get open is unmatched. When Houston let him go, and he went to Seattle, I stopped being a Oilers fan and have been a Seahawks fan ever since.

I truly believe that he was the second best WR of all time. He was always open, always caught the ball, and scored 100 touchdowns. He was at his best in the red zone or in close games. His counting stats don't match up anymore but he played after the wild west of the 1960s AFL and before the passing revolution of West Coast Offence. His numbers as a percentage of the offence were off the charts. And he really had very little in the way of quality WRs or TEs to distract the defence.

Second best? Come on. If he had a Hall of Fame Offensive line, Bill Walsh and Joe Montana as his QB, he'd have made a mockery of every WR record on the books. Put Jerry Rice on the Seahawks and are you going to get the same career? Honestly.....

UNTHINKABLE how even 5 people could not “like” this & Steve ~ possibly was the hardcore rap🎶 during the extended highlight clips that turned them (i.e., the 5👎) off?!🤔😝😂..... Etched in my mind’s eye is the honor of watching Steve play his last NFL game on 12/23/89 in the Kingdome vs. the Redskins ~ sat at the top of the 1st level of the south end zone stands & watched the pregame ceremony honoring Steve, just as they showed near the end of this piece. Will never forget it👏🌟🏈☝️~ also at that very time they unveiled for 1st~ever time the Seahawks ring~of~honor, of course with Largent’s name standing alone up there on the mezzanine! Based on the entirely of actually playing the position, Rice is the goat. Rice is easily the best runner after the catch ever, is easily the most clutch and best big game recover ever, and is the best route runner ever. (Though was a GREAT route runner himself.) But when talking strictly about hands and nothing but hands, Largent is the goat of hands. After Largent, the argument for the second best hands is between Carter and Fitzgerald.

Rap music which includes f... and other obscenities is not what Largent would approve of. It is offensive to say the least. It demeans all that Steve Largent stood for.

I love this video, but there is no way I would share it because of that vile rap song. Why would anyone choose that?

My thoughts exactly guys. I'm sure Largent would really appreciate that garbage on a video about him. Pissed me off.

This is a Great recap of Largent's Great pass catches. However, the music with the F word does not honor this Christian Man. Just a thought!

Despise his political views and have lost a lot of respect for him because of that but as a kid growing up in seattle before/during the Matt Hasselbeck era the only great I knew was steve

He's one of my idols but it was ROUGH when I became familiar with his politics. Similar to when I found out John Lennon was a woman beater.
