You saved my dad frustration. Thank you so much!
My Verso's battery died and I couldn't get the car doors open. With your help, I just unlocked the car. Thank you very much!
Hi, can you please advise why my front enterianment system is not showing me my video even when I am in Park Mode? 2020 GXR GT
the key lock on the driver door is under the handle, how do i access this lock?
My Toyota Preimo battery is dead and car locked. How can I open it. I tried using the FOB key but it's not opening. Kindly advise.
Wow really!? How do I put air in my tires if I have a pump?
I don't have emergancy key to unload. I have only key so how can I unlock the door as my battery is dead
Is there a hidden place for a key hole
Corolla le 2020 is same as camry
Real world experience as I am an automotive locksmith. Obviously we don't see the cars people were able to get into. We see Toyota, Lexus and Honda's with this issue and unable to explain it. Dead car battery. Emergency key will turn but not unlock door. We see this every single day. We run 120 to 150 calls per week. We use tools to get the door open which isn't an issue but the emergency keys won't open them. We also run into miscut keys and keys that were never cut as they just used the fob and didn't realize the emergency key never worked. Once again I am talking about properly cut keys that turn the cylinder but do not open the door with a dead battery. Would love to figure out why this is.
That's interesting, Scott. Thanks for sharing your experience. We'll disconnect some batteries and see what results we find. My guess for uncut or miscut emergency keys is that those are replacement fobs that the selling dealer dropped the ball on.
@@lakecharlestoyota my son came back to his car from a long deployment in Alaska and his battery died. He tried his metal key (2020 Corolla) and it would not unlock the door. AAA had to come to the rescue 3 hours later.
@@lakecharlestoyotahe's right this tutorial doesn't help at all. And you can't get to battery to replace it as well
I've got this happening right now! I've used the key before fine but now it won't work at all and I'm stumped. The car battery is dead, regular fob won't work and now the physical key won't work either 🙃 need to get into the car to charge the battery so the fob will work. Any advice?
@@watchthisheadspace You didn't say what kind of car. You either need to pay someone to open the door or watch some videos and try it yourself. Most people who try it themselves end up scratching the car and or wedging the door too much and leaving a gap. We had to fix one yesterday a tow truck driver opened but couldn't get into the trunk. He left a huge gap in the door frame but we fixed it and got into the trunk.
The other thing you can do and I have done this before is to crawl under the car and or look in the grill and try to pull the cable for the hood release. You can jump the battery and the key should work. The other thing is you can attach a jumpbox to the starter and that will backfeed the battery and allow you to unlock the door with the key. That will probably be the easiest if you have access to the starter without opening the hood. Sometimes you can remove a light from the outside and jump it to backfeed the battery. You can find a friend with a AAA membership if you don't have one and that works too.
My Toyota premio smart key is burnt can I buy one instead
Yes you can purchase replacement smart keys. See your nearest Toyota dealer, Aradhana
Can I use this method if the alarm is on?
This method is for use with a dead battery - I don't believe it will disable your alarm system.
@@lakecharlestoyotathe fob's dead battery or the Car?
To help start the vehicle
The blade key only gets you inside the vehicle. It will not help you start the vehicle.
Can you do this with the supra
Since Supra is manufactured by BMW it is slightly different. Let me see what I can find out about how they do it.
What if key is locked in trunk of 2020 Camry?
If the vehicle is locked and you can't access the key, you probably need to contact a locksmith
19 and up Camry's are a problem. The alarm goes off and disables the electric trunk button and the rear seats don't fold down. I get calls on these weekly. Basically you have to remove the door lock which is behind the handle. Not easy to get out or back in but we do these weekly. Once the lock is out you will see the latch. Turn it with a flatblade screwdriver to reset the alarm and the trunk button will work. Have fun getting the lock back in behind the handle. lol Mazda 3's, and some Hyundai's have the exact same issue and the same procedure works on those as well.
Is there a way to use the valet key to drive the car. If the battery dies in the smart key, can you still drive the car?
I had this happen in a petrol station. Keep the key whole, use the fob to press the start stop button (physically push the whole fob into the button to turn it on)
@@watchthisheadspace Fun fact. The battery is only to operate the buttons on the fob. You don't need the fob battery to start the car. As you stated usually (but not always) using the fob to press the push to start gets them going. The ones it doesn't work on have a designated spot to place the fob. Google is your friend on those as they are in all different places.
@@scotts4125 yes that's what I was saying. I had a dead fob battery and started the car by pushing the fob into the start stop button. No idea how it works but that's what my car needed to start
How do you start the car once youre in?
If the battery in your smartkey is dead, you'll need to get the batteries replaced before you will be able to start the vehicle.
Not true on the GT86. You can push the key fob itself into the start stop button and it'll start the car. Had to do it in a petrol station when the key fob died
Thats not true mine dosent open the door
Same. It worked once but now won't. A lot of people said wd40 as they get super super stiff but I'm worried about snapping the key in the lock
