I consider myself very fortunate in a way. I have Aspergers Syndrome. Because of this, I don't need to sketch circuits out-I see them in my head, and can simply build what I want when I want.

Putting the charge controller on the battery is a good idea. I never thought of that. Thanks KF0ALT

    Nicely done!
I went a little more elaborate with mine. I built TWO systems actually, but I'll only discuss my smaller one in this comment. I bought an Orange Pelican 1430 Case. In that I put a Bioenno FORTY Amp Battery, a Bioenno 6 Amp Wall Charger, and the Same Charge Controller you are using. I cut a wood panel that sets in the top of the case on which I mounted the Controller 2 Dual THREE AMP usb outputs, 2 Dual Powerpole sockets, and 2 Standard 12 Volt Sockets. Each set of pods has its own on/off switch, as does the Charge Controller-I did that to simply isolate it from the battery in order to NOT have to connect and disconnect every time I want to use Solar. If you have an email address, I'll be delighted to send you some photos of the unit I built.
Again, my compliments to you. Building your own stuff is what being a Ham is all about-GOOD ON YOU!

Would it be possible for you to make a list of exactly what parts you bought. Sounds like just what I'm looking for. I am a legally blind HAM, KI7BSL, and I need too build one for the next Field Day. I only use a 2 meter, 70 cm rig, with maximum power output of 25 watts. I will use the 20 amp Bioenno battery.

I have a similar ammo box. Except for the handle, I like it. The handle doe not lock into its holes and falls out very easily. The box is not "grab and go." I just use if for storage in my office now.

Here's a little tip when you're you're putting together small, low current systems like this. O'Reilys auto parts sells 14 GA. Spade Connectors that are set at 90 Degree angles at the top. These are GREAT when you have limited build space, and they come in 10 Packs for around $5.00.

I'd really like it if you could make a list of the parts and where you got them. I want to build a box like that.

Since you use the box on the ground, have you had any issues with the lower powerpole getting wet from dew, mud etc?

cant you hook your charger directly to the solar panel input instead of unplugging it separately and charge it via an external charger?

Great system! Do you by chance have a listing of where to get components? Plugs and so forth. I would love to build one. Thanks.

Hello! Yes, I ordered the gauges from qsradio.com, the plugs on the side I ordered from eBay, the rigrunner I had from west mountain, power poles I had ordered awhile ago from powerwerx and the battery from Bioenno. I think that’s it! I might have forgotten something 🤔

Jen, what about an external ON/OFF switch? I know you have the connector inside to remove power when not in use

    • @jenvan2583
      @jenvan2583  Před 6 lety

Dave, as soon as I was done I said it would be cool to have the little switch! Gary agreed. I thinking of ordering that and just being able to cut power externally. But for now just lift up and unhook!

Dave it's really cool. You need a box of Snickers Bars!

what are you going to do to keep that Bioenno battery from sliding around or falling out if the box tips over?

At the moment I’m using Velcro. I haven’t had a problem yet and been taking it out operating weekly.

@Jen Van, great set up and I like how you've done it. I know it's been a while since you've posted this video, but any chance you could post links to the meter, USB port and other bits that you used? KJ7DXD
