In this video I team up with my friend Chelsea to create “Coco Loco”, the ultimate sandbar skiff boat setup to sell fresh fruit and açaí bowls at the local sandbar.
This boat started as 2 different catamaran hulls that we then repurposed / recycled and turned into the ultimate sandbar skiff! Rescued from the junkyard and now ready to cruise the sandbar! - Jak na to + styl
Very interesting build. Love your ability to see the unrecognized value in overlooked parts.
Outstanding Build. Your like the MacGyver of the Boat world.
Hahaha. That’s possibly the greatest compliment ever 😂🙌🏼. Man I used to love watching that show as a kid! Cheers buddy!

Dude! I NEED part 2 in my life! I can't wait! I've built tortured plywood boats before, but scavenging boat pieces, well thats something i never considered 🤔!

Thanks Jeff! Right?! Im going to see if I can borrow it from Chelsea one day to throw a 9.9 or 15 hp on it! 🤯 🚀
Awesome build

Vroom! Heck yeah buddy! Wait till part 2! Uploads this weekend!
Outstanding!!!!!!!
I took the idea from the "wild skiff". Installed a grab bar on a Vergaplast Larianella (9 ft ABS plastic trihull made in Italy). 9.9 tohatsu . Fantastic! Thank you!
Oh hell yes! That sounds freaking awesome Marco! Think you could Send me some photos to diywaterworld@gmail.com ? I’d love to see it! Cheers buddy!

Fantastic!

Great repurposed hull!
I was looking for Johnny Sins videos, but somehow ended up here. Strange, but intriguing.
I saw your ‘short’ video of this boat and am glad to see how this came to be.
Wayne!!! Thanks buddy, part 2 uploads tomorrow and shares even more of the build story / inspiration and intentions! I hope you’re well buddy! Cheers!
Woww, i love you you built your testing pool right outside the workshop.. #Yewwwwwww.. Yeaaaaa Buddy..
Yewwwww! Thanks buddy, I knew you’d dig the pool setup! It’s pretty sweet, easy to break down and store and a lifesaver when needed! Miss you bud!
Very frickin’ cool!
Thanks so much! I’d have to agree, it’s one of my favs!
If you love boating and/or diy. You can't go wrong with a sub to this channel!
Thank you, I really appreciate it Bradley! Sounds cliche, but reading comments like this really motivate me more than anything to share these builds. You guys rock!
Love your work

Right on and cheers! Part 2 uploads tomorrow! 😎
Glad to see your still going. Im currently working on repurposing a 30ft sailboat into something different.
such an underrated channel all you do is top notch this channel will blow up one day i can feel it keep it up !!!
Thanks so much for the channel love and support! No telling, but we’ll see how things go in the near future as I have dedicated more time to the channel now. Cheers!
Now add 10’ to it! I love it bro!
Right?! 🤤 I’m heavily considering something along those lines with the other hull. This one needed to be small
And manageable for Chelsea’s business but the next one…. Could be an awesome island hopper! 😎
Great video! Love seeing crazy stuff like that
Hahaha, heck yeah! Well you’ve come to the right channel! Cheers!
Great talent bud.. took the 60 hp Bigfoot tiller out today and got 43 toadies! (Puffer fish)
Right on! I was just showing vid and photos of your ride to a friend. Love your setup bud! See you around!
Sweet work
Keep up the fun projects!!!
Hey man, just found your channel. I'm an old Florida boat builder myself. I love this project. I live in Ohio now and am just setting my little boat building shop up here at my house. I have been kicking around the idea of building some small watercraft, canoes and kayaks, etc. But I have always wanted a Proa. You hit the nail on the head with this build. I wish I had a composites supply store near me like the ones in Florida...damn I miss Fiberglass Supply! I don't know if you're into sailing at all, but that boat would be super cool with a simple sailing rig too. Love it! New sub.
Thank you so much, for taking the time to write and share this and for the positive energy. I appreciate it! Very cool to hear what you’ve got going and I’m stoked to hear others stories/endeavors. I like the idea a lot with a sailing rig and would seriously consider making one of these for bahamas adventures. I have a long range trip I want to make in the upcoming fall. You might have just helped pushed me over the proa cliff for this ! Haha. Cheers buddy!
@@diywaterworld I just moved back from Thailand about 9 months ago, after over 5 years there and I travelled to Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and the Phillipines. I saw a lot of Proas and Trimarans. I used to work with a boat builder called Axium Boatworks there in Stuart, FL. Mark Kettering is the owner Engineer, he designed and built the AM series of folding Trimarans, they would hit about 25-28 knots under sail, if I remember right. I love your repurposing of that old deck boat. You could just about do a version of Matt Laydens Paradox and have a Microcruising Proa. That would be pretty bad-ass! Thanks for responding so quickly. Keep up the energy man, it's really good to see.
Awesome keep it up buddy 👍
Thank you so much! I appreciate the encouragement more than you know! Cheers!
@@diywaterworld no problem man I watch all your videos I’ve learned a lot from you 🙏 keep kickin butt much love stay safe✌️🍻
Bro! I LOVE your builds. This one actually reminds me of my canoe. I have it w a single outrigger on one side setup with a trolling motor. I want to put a small 4-6hp on her as well. Nice job!!
Thanks so much Jared! Glad you enjoy the builds! So you’ve got a canoe w outrigger… hmmmm…. 😎 I’ve had an idea I’m dying to share / build / see done. Shoot me an email diywaterworld@gmail.com and I’ll send it to you. Cheers buddy!
Hell-yea !
Thanks Michael! Cheers!
Man youre hair grows fast. cool build
Hahaha.Just not the hair on top of my head! 😂. Glad you enjoyed the build so far!
Love the builds!!! Awesome work and great execution using often times sub par boats! I could only imagine what you could do with good hulls! Keep up the great work!!
Dude, that's pretty cool.
Good stuff mate
Thanks so much! Glad you like it!
That's awesome! Makes me want a coconut!
Right?! Just wait until you see part 2! Uploads tomorrow, cheers!
Nice build. There is always something to learn while watching your videos!
Haha, I really appreciate it buddy! Heck, I’m always trying to learn something new daily! Thanks for the great support always , glad you’re here! Cheers!
Nice Proa! You always have creative builds! Keep them coming!
I always love your stuff!! I am making a mold for a little pontoon like that. This would be fun!
Right on Chuck! Sounds cool
And would love to see what you’re working on! Cheers bud!
I just found your channel, great build! Im a pro boat builder, ive been preaching to use cut up power boats as poor mans star board for years, hah.
Only 4hp??? That’s awesome!
Right?! Pretty crazy , I think it was around 8-9 mph in that test video. The little skiff rides!!!
Very cool project. Like a Hawaiian Gheenoe \m/ I I think you might be getting lots of folks asking you to build these for them, especially if you could put up to a little 9.9hp on it. I bet if you wanted to get real fancy you could even make the ama detachable to make transport easier on a trailer. Keep up the great work. Cheers!
Thank you Karl! I always enjoy your feedback and great energy! Yes, I’m VERY tempted to build one with a 9.9 or bigger! And you are 100% right, since it’s completion a couple months ago there have been numerous people wanting one for sandbar hopping. 😎. I love your detachable idea, thank you. In part / you’ll see the trailer setup better and see it isn’t too bad. Upload for part 2 is tomorrow! Cheers!
Nice first gen. Dodge cummins.
🌴 Hey Forrest , that’s a wild build ! It’s like a Hawaiian canoe with nuts , is the side sponson filled with A-B foam or just air ? What about the hull any flotation ? To bad you couldn’t use the whole hull , this is a great little cruiser , fun party boat , ( no don’t try tak’n it to the Bahamas! ) 😆
Thanks always Dave for the awesome input and energy towards the channel! Hawaiian canoe with 🥜 🤣🤣. Love it haha. Yes, the ama is filled with FGCI 2lb density foam . In part 2 I explain a little more and you’ll see closer the main hull. :) and hahaha, I’d take this boat to bahamas in a heartbeat. lol. This thing is incredibly efficient and super solid!! cheers bud!
Great build! Love the simple concept and your test pool. How did you determine best fore and aft placement for the ama?
Will this be here in Stuart? Cool build Forrest!
Thanks Josh! Hope to see you around sometime! And yes, Chelsea runs “Coco Loco” at the Stuart sandbar every weekend weather permitting! Keep an eye out! Cheers bud!
Love the build Forest. How do you trailer something like this?
Thanks so much Lance! I Always appreciate your comments. In part 2 you’ll see the trailer setup. It’s pretty simple actually and because we kept the width moderately narrow, “Coco Loco” trailers pretty easily and we could modify an average little skiff trailer to work. :) cheers bud!
Pretty cool is there storage in the smaller pontoon
Thanks James! No there isn’t. It’s actually filled with foam. :)
Cool I'm think getting old small pontoons to make a really stable paddle board to sketchy with dog in small biards
Hey Forest!! Just letting you know that I appreciate your help! Bought a 15 ft Ouaquita and a 30hp Nissan!! Thanks for that video!!
How long did this boat end up being???
If you could get the editing down and have more videos 1’once or twice a week you’d blow !!!!
Thanks so much, and yeah, that’s been the big challenge for me. Limited editing software and ( I edit all my videos on an iPad) and of course limited time to edit. But….. I’ve committed myself to a day of editing a week so you guys should be seeing a lot more videos coming out! Cheers!
