♥ Kevin's influence is strong on this track. His father hails from Nigeria, hence the Lion King vibe. Great reaction - can't wait until the next one!
I was going to comment something to that effect, that Kevin had a lot of influence in the use of African rhythms behind the song. I absolutely love their version of this!
@@bill.godwin-austen They are a remarkable group!
It also includes his Granadan heritage.
My favorite Christmas song by PTX hands down. It's joyful and representative of the true Christmas Spirit. Kevin's work on this was to represent his roots. His mother is from Grenada in the Eastern Caribbean and his dad is Nigerian. Clearly both influences are heard here making it so uplifting and joyous. This arrangement in my mind should have gotten a Grammy for musical arrangement. Nobody has ever done it better. Great reaction. 😎
I could watch this every single day and I would start it with joy.
You should have seen me the first time I heard this song. I was dancing around my house like a lunatic, but I was wearing headphones, so my husband had no idea what I was listening to. He was seriously doubting my sanity until I played the song for him. He then understood why I was dancing, but still doubted my sanity because he didn't like it - and then I started doubting *his* sanity.
How could he not like it?!
You husband is just not right!!
I love the pure joy on the choirs faces I never seen a happier church choir in my life, awesome song
As others have said, my favourite Pentatonix song is...... the one I am listening to right now! It is not possible to rate one above another.
I love this! I get chills every time the choir turns around.
Yes! With you entirely!!!! Thanks for sharing it with me
Pure joy
THE BEST REACTION EVER👏👏👏👏 THNKS👍😁
you just can't stop your foot from thumping, body swaying......happy happy song
I have to agree, this is one of the best videos PTX has done. Imagine how amazing it would have been for the choir members! Everyone looks like they're really feeling the joy. Love your reactions!
My favorite !!!!!!!!
love, Love, LOVE! This is by far my favorite of their Christmas songs and that’s saying a lot. This is just pure joy from start to finish and it’s a crime that it isn’t played on local radio stations. 💜
Hands down, my fave version of this song!
It's the beat, inspired by memories of Kevin's dad from South Africa...
A hello you Pentatonix.
Carol of the Bells live from Christmas Under the Stars. Unbelievable
You: “church should be more like this, imagine”. I am a member at a Baptist church in Central Florida and I sing in our choir, our title is Celebration Choir. I’m here to say church can absolutely be like this. Our director believes in mixing between modern (contemporary) and traditional. And we definitely have fun.
I get goosebumps every time
Can you feel the love is a must listen to
Yyyyaaaaaaaaassssssssss
I love this song. It makes you feel so happy! Very good for the soul. 🥰
#1 fan is here!!!!
I’m an agnostic atheist, but this song and the arrangement is beyond superlatives. Pentattonix is the only band that have had this effect on me since Yes in the seventies. I’m in awe.
they tend to do that sort of thing to people :P
🥰 This is one of my favs. It’s the way this song was meant to be sung! With joy! Quick correction- Chance is in Home Free. Avi was replaced by Matt as PTX bass. The other PTX members are Kevin, Scott, Mitch, and Kirsty.
Great reaction to a fantastic, uplifting performance !
I have seen other reactors make the same comment on the "Lion King" vibe. It is very strong here, especially in the chorus (and that is beautiful).
The smiiiiles 😊
Joyful!
My all time favorite of their Christmas songs!
Avi and Kevin just killed it again.
The most joyous performance I have ever heard...
Welllll...since you mentioned Lion King vibes, they also do a fire fantastic magical banger cover of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" Their wardrobe is all in the colors of a specific character. See if you can guess who is who.
Lion King was the first thing I thought of the first time I ever heard this!!
Its so damn good!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I knew you would love that. It was fire!!!!!
Kevin and Avi laid such a brilliant support of the song....the trio just allowed to float along. Kirstin sounds so clear and her smile warms your heart. Avi does the same...and it's hard smile when you have to lay down the bass..lol
They are angels. They touch everyone who watches the. Got to be god sent. Love your reactions I've been watching hundreds of others too. Its amazing they touch everyone. Thanks for the great reactions. I'll put my tree up too.😊😊🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤❤
Ohhh for the love of all that is good in the world......I’ve been waiting for this reaction!! Thank you Thank you! I always look forward to your PTX reactions!!! This one is one of my favorites!! WHO has ever been able to DANCE to Come All Ye Faithful???? Ever? 😂
I would love to see your reaction to Gold - Pentatonix (Kiiara Cover) All 5 of them just sitting on a couch together....blowing your mind with their gifts! The camera just stays right on them, you can see so clearly what talent and beauty each of them are bringing to the table! It’s a AMAZING cover! Oh, Avi is in this one. He and Kevin....🤯
Thank you D!
Agree...dancing to O Come All Ye Faithful !! Gold is superb. What talent!!
Agree ! React to " Gold" but listen to a bit of the original to see what PTX does with their voices that Kiara had to use all sorts of techno stuff for ! I seriously couldn't even listen to but a few minutes of Kiara's version. PTX version 🔥🔥💜💜GOLD🤣
There is a video you should check out where Avi hits a low note and a high note both at the same time.
For something different (but still amazing, wonderful, epic….) you should react to one of their originals, such as Happy Now, Be My Eyes (featuring Kirstin), Coffee in Bed, or Sing. You won’t be disappointed. Love your reactions!
So effortless... Man this is great!!
The best rendition of this old classic than any other out there. Makes you want to dance to it.
(D, I think what it makes you feel is “joyful and triumphant?”) Mitch’s solo couldn’t have been on a more fitting verse; his voice *is* “choirs of angels.”
One of my favourite!!!
Check out the number of church choirs on youtube who are doing this arrangement. PTX is being covered.
This is in my top 3 of PTX holiday songs, but the best part of this video is @6:10 when Scott sneaks a smile at Mitch during his solo. 💕
Now you need to see a live performance by them. Please react to Aha! Singapore, Star Vista Mitch and Avi will blow your mind.
Ooooo...I would love to see him react to Aha Star Vista !!! Hang on for that wild ride!
I love this track! The African vibe is incredible and showcases how diverse they are, proud and respectful of Kevin’s roots. I love these guys (and gal)! Amazing group and great reaction as always! 🏴❣️👍
Yessssss, Kevin and Avi just take the beatboxing and bass percussion to a whole other level. It's that "happy" vibe that makes you think Lion King. It is so up beat and up lifting. I love this one. PTX is EPIC!!!!
Best Christmas song ever! Have watched this so many times, and still makes me dance in my chair, and smile wide as I sing along. Such an uplifting and feel good performance. Pentatonix favourite for sure. The African influence adds so much flavour and takes it to a whole new level.
Just when you think you've see it all they go and do that. Or that. Or that. It's the reason they are a cut above. This is the only version of this song that I want to hear from now. So great. You might want to try New Rules x Are You Somebody. Incredible mashup. You're PTX reactions are so great!!!
It was a also a joy watching your reaction!! Thx!!
Ya can't help but feel happy inside!! Pentatonix is a Gift from God! 🙏
I was really expecting the normal boring version
Thank you Pentatonix! Amazing!
LMAO - good one!
“That was pure perfection.” You got that right. Great reaction. I really enjoy watching your reactions because you love PTX as much as I do. You make me laugh too and that is very important. Keep up the reactions oh favorite reactor of mine! 💕 This is actually one of my favorite songs by PTX and I love the upbeat nests of it.
I was getting off CZcams and spotted this video and had to stop and watch it. I knew you were going to love it! One of their best!
Woe. This is amazing
Lion king coming to my head as well!! I love your reactions!! Today I am binge watching al of them!! 🥰
Paul Simon and his work with African bands comes to mind, but I have heard a couple other reactors mention Lion King too!
It’s most definitely giving Lion King vibes for sure !! ** if i’m not mistaken ** Kevin is Nigerian/Grenadian i believe he decided to put a little spice into the song with some African beats
I love how they took a (dare I say) boring Xmas song and filled it with JOY! No surprise. Yes you are right on point with the Lion King vibe. Afro beat is 🔥🔥. Dude I am so with you. If church inspired this kind of joy, people would be beating down the doors.
He needs to come to my church. Our music is close to this kind
I was laughing at you - barely a few seconds in and you’re desk banging. Right? They ain’t human.
Thank you for a fun reaction, sharing your time with us is appreciated. ☮️
I love your Pentatonix reactions. Love PTX, they are my fave….
Okay I say it officially here and now Mitch is amazing
Hi Judy from az love you comments I watch you all the time I think your the best glad I found you ,!!!!!!
Now waiting for Santa...I'm in the mood.
I absolutely love this one and Silent Night is awesome 🤩
"mmm, interesting.. 🧔👉👈🧔"
😂😂
Great reaction to an amazing arrangement!
That's a Holy Crap for me :)) Great reaction D.
Like you, I loved this video!! These are five musical savants whose genius for creating sounds and incorporating their great musical instruments into wonderfully intricate harmonies, put them down as the greatest acapella group of all time, in my book!! And you my friend, I so enjoyed your reactions as they matched mine so closely that I was laughing and enjoying each and every move and comment you made. I'm a 72 year old Viet Nam veteran whose day has been made a lot happier because of your reaction. Thank you and God Bless.
Late to the party, but LOVED the reaction! Thanks for this one. 🤘🏾
There orsam as always. Merry Christmas
you should also check out daddy sang bass cover by Voiceplay when you get a chance Pentatonix Homefree and Voiceplay are all amazing
Such an amazing version, so joyful! It doesn’t get old either, every time!
Everybody who has seen a PTX video before this one: "It can't possibly get better."
PTX: "Get ready to dance to a traditional Christmas carol."
People: "Wait. What?"
This is now my favorite version of this carol. I'm a singer, pianist and organist and I've sung/played my share of Christmas music over the years. There are definitely pieces of Christmas music I'd rather not ever hear/play/sing again because they're so overdone and overdone BADLY. It took me three years to be willing to listen to Pentatonix's version of "Mary Did You Know?" because it was on my list of Christmas Music That Makes My Ears Bleed. It's now back in rotation and their version is THE version as far as I'm concerned. They revived a piece I'd buried, which I never thought would happen for any reason. And now THIS version of "O Come, All Ye Faithful" should be the dual official version. There's a place for the traditional version, because there's always a place for the original - the original has the story behind it, before others began adding their own spices to the original dish. So, the traditional carol can stay with its four-part harmony - it's beautiful when it's done right, and there's something about it that feels like home (at least, for me). But THIS version should be the alternate official version. The part of Christmas you get excited about. The part of MUSIC you get excited about. You can't not smile when you hear this, or move your feet, or bob your head in time with Kevin's beat, or maybe even shake your shoulders with Avi's bass line. It's a genius arrangement, and I mean that in its truest definition. Ben Bram (I think that's the correct name - someone will correct me if I've got it wrong, I'm sure) does song arrangement for PTX, and if he did the arrangement of this, then he's cemented his genius status, too. I love your reactions and continue to go back through all of your videos. This one popped up on my main page at random today, so I had to watch it, of course. Take it easy! :) (Sorry for the long-winded comment. I'm a writer and a musician, so sometimes it's hard to shut up. Sorry, sorry, sorry!!)
Great reaction.
Please react to PTX’s PERFECT & SAY SOMETHING. WONDERFUL! Thank you! Love your reactions!
I loved your reaction - I agree with you about the joy this song puts in your soul!
Love this song, can't even tell you how many times I've played this! You would l also love Joy to The World. There are so many Christmas songs and all are amazing. For harmonies, Silent Night. The new songs that came out this year are also incredible. Great reaction as always!
Lion King probably comes to mind from the African back beat influences! SO GLAD you've found them!😃
I thought I had seen it all, too...and then I heard "My Heart With You". Not a Christmas song, but hauntingly beautiful.
I agree. Everyone lost their minds with The Prayer which of course was awesome but my favorite from Evergreen is My Heart With You - just so gorgeously gorgeous 🤯❤️🔥🙌
A favorite! So joyful!
Suggestion, Valentine's day is around the corner. They do a song called "Valentine".
It is a very early one and is seldom reacted to.
Happy New Year!
You're not alone. I thought of the Lion King (or just African rhythms) the first time I heard this.
Great reaction! Lots of Pentaholics say that a person's favorite PTX video is the one they saw just recently. Kevin's great inspiration from his Caribbean and African roots plus the group's enthusiasm and generosity of spirit (the choir!) adds up to a really great experience for everyone. ETA: You might check out one of the live videos of Joyful Joyful from their recent Evergreen concert tour for a similar infectious church-like experience.
You are so right perfection!❤ I haven't heard a reactor yet who hasnt said they felt the Lion King vibe 🥰 too.
It was arranged by Kevin with his Nigerian and Granadan heritage in mind.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
True celebration of Christ's birth through their singing! Happy feeling, big smile on my face, goose bumps, holy spirit raging inside me! What an awesome feeling! Thank you so much❣
Yep this became my favorite as soon as I heard it!! This is so JOYFUL!!!!!! Great reaction! LOL no you not the only one, it is that African vibe of the song. If you haven't Try a couple of their originals; Early career "Love Again", Midcareer "Sing", Last year "Coffee in Bed" or " Happy Now"
Am I the only one who's noticed that each member of Pentatonix has ABSOLUTELY PERFECT teeth (and smile) !!!
Oh....I am having such fun every time I see you one of your reactions pop up. Love your reactions. This is one of my absolute favourite PTX Christmas songs. It thrills me and makes me want to get up and dance every time! I knew you would react to that early ear candy from Mitch and Kirstie "Eee yeah Eee yeah". How do they event think of these things? Just so clever. The arrangement. The beat. The vocals. The solos. The choir. That Afro-Caribbean rhythm. Kevin driving that rhythm and beat, Avi so deep, Scott with his baritone, Kirstie so sharp and angel Mitch just hitting every note with precision. They look as they they are going to jump right out of the screen dancing and they are so joyous!! Have you reacted to PTX's cover of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?"
Thanks for reacting to one of my favorite Christmas songs from Pentatonix. I enjoy the 'Lion King' vibes from this one too and as others have already stated in the comments the Kevin influence (his mother is from Granada, father from Nigeria) is strong here. Pentatonix Christmas music is the best around and I still can't understand why it is not played on the radio.
So happy you did this, thank you so much, I deeply enjoyed your reaction ❤️. I listen to uplifting & joyful Xmas PTX songs throughout the whole year when I feel sad or depressed 🥰
Já é tradição montar minha árvore de Natal ouvindo Pentatonix ... Acho essa versão incrivelmente bela..
Saudações do Brasil 😉
Just remember that in Psalms you would find the advice to make a joyous noise unto the Lord. Seems to me they did exactly that. Kevin's Nigerian and Caribbean heritage shines in this arrangement.
I agree this is one of my top 5!! Amazing! Inspiring! Joyful!!!
