I love the wisdom and dedication Jamal Holtz brings. He seems to embrace and seek to continue the philosophy of the late Mayor Marion Barry in regard to promoting and highlighting the needs of the Black and brown communities of DC.
While it's kind of iffy that DC will receive statehood staus any time soon (with the full plate the Democrats appear to have), I still believe we CANNOT give up the fight! I'm a firm believer that anything worth getting is worth fighting for.
Now that we know the 'path' we need to take, we're on the way to getting what we want. In due season, the citizens of DC will achieve the statehood status they deserve and desire!!💯
Fabulous to see this young man in leadership. Don't fall in love with and marry your hypothesis. They wanted something from you, Biden/Harris, they NEEDED you....you EXPECT something in return. You gave your vote, as promised. Watch for the promises they keep...Action always louder than sweet, subtle, polished words.
It’s time for D.C. Statehood. We ADOCS were there to build the city. It’s time to allow those who built the city to have descendants receive full representation in government.
Because… it was set that way for a reason and someone benefited from doing that.
We also need to start increasing our incomes and having more children who espouse our political beliefs so that they can carry on these things we're talking about long after we're gone.
Once the city is gentrified to certain specifications statehood will be certain..

Hi Prof Hunter, this is serious stuff right here even for me living in the UK and it has a direct impact on everyone in any diaspora because our brothers and sisters are being denied the very thing that caused the war with England, taxation without representation. Also Puerto Rico, American Samoa and any other territory which has majority Black people, are also being denied their voting rights. They must be allowed to vote for their own representatives or they're simply not part of that country (I can hear Dr Carr saying the USA ain't a country as I write this), and then I remember the map you showed in lecture on Lovecraft Country (green, white and black) because that's where it's heading.
I'll share this video so at least someone else can be informed.
D.C. should be a state, as should Puerto Rico. I also think California should be split into north and south. The state, my home state, hasn't been governed well and the resources are split to thin.
Agree on DC and PR statehood...BUT, do the Puerto Rican people want statehood..OR do they want to be independent? PLEASE LISTEN TO THEM.
As far as CA being split in two...I do not agree.

All territories should have full citizenship even tiny ones like the USVI
and north and South Dakota should be ONE state!
