    Awesome. I plan on changing my oil in the weekend so I thought I'd look up where the filter is etc because I'm a total newbie when it comes to car maintenance. Thanks a lot mate.

    Another excellent video - thanks for uploading :-) Our Fiesta also has the 1.4TDci engine. It is now only being used for shorter runs and I have been considering whether we ought to start doing interm 6month oil changes. The idea of using the vacuum pump was a great idea!

    To get the filter out of the housing. You can push a screwdriver through the filter and then lever it out against the housing. Thanks for making the video!

    The pele pumps are great to use, i also clean out the bottom of the filter housing using the pipe on the pele pump, it acts like a vacuum and gets out all the oil in that area. after cleaning out the housing, i pour in some of the new oil as some cars have the oil pump below and it ensures the pump does not run dry as this may damage the pump.

    When you pull the filter out, some oil will run off down into the sump so best to do the filter first. You can fit cap on to the new filter and fit them together into the housing. You just need to lightly rotate the filter until you feel it drop into the locating hole.
    I believe Mann Filters make filters for Ford.

    ***** i just bought this car and this helps alot just 2 questions 1- the oil whats the difference between part and full synthetic for this car and 2- would i need to buy some to top up the car now and again or will the oil not need changing til its next service , because is it worth me having a 1 or 2 litres of oil in the boot?

  • @ThePonchov2
    @ThePonchov2 Před 6 lety +1

    The filter won't go in the housing if the sticky bit is not in the hole anyway, might as well just put it in the cap and rotate until it clicks in

    Glad you said (at 2min 50secs) " It's ok for an interim, but wouldn't recommend for a 12K full oil change" .. best way to remove harmful sludge is leave an hour to drain from the sump, then flush a cupful of new oil, let drain again before refitted the drain plug (with a new compression washer) .

    What is the outer diameter of the pipe that goes in the dipstick hole as I've read reviews of oil syphons which say the supplied hoses were too big to fit in the dipstick hole.
    Thank you

    love the video and i have the same car but did you have trouble loosening the nut on the filter cap. I've got the socket abut it won't brake free. I've tried WD40. brute force and even a drill to try and losen it but it won't budge any help would be great

    • @GreasyPrimate
      @GreasyPrimate  Před 9 lety +1

      Not really, mine needed fairly minimal force to remove. Sounds like yours has been over-tightened or maybe even cross-threaded. Might be worth buying a new cap as a precaution - you can then use as much force as you need and if it breaks you've got a replacement ready. Only £12 on ebay ebay.eu/1ozGD0a

      A ratchet with a flexy head comes in handy, some later models have a different air filter housing so it's a bit tight. Let the oil drain back out of the filter for a few minutes and there will be hardly any mess.

    Hi, just wondering if you could help me with a coolant leak I'm having on my Fiesta 1.4 tdci. It seems to come out of that aluminum box (oil cooler?) with round edges you can see on your video if you pause it at 9:09 (start of your red arrow). I spent 2 hours looking for the origin of the leak and it looks like it comes from the seal between that part and the engine block. Any help is appreciated. Thanks !!

      They probably do but and most these cars (as is the case in my e class) theyre under engine covers and aren't meant for have it removed from the bottom but to have it sucked out as its a lot less work and is much quicker.

    ATE Continental Freins à disque avants ATE Continental qui équipent la Fiesta nouvelle neuve:voyez ,où plutôt écouter ce qui se passe lorsqu'on freine,c'est assourdissant,et ceci n'est qu'une partie de ces freins lamentables,car EN PLUS ,à l'arret,en tournant le volant à droite, comme à gauche,on doit suporter un craquement métallique,tout le temps.! Pour le chef d'atelier,c'est normal,mais après des milliers de kilomètres maintenant,les crissements de tôle en terminaison de freinage sont toujours làl et aussi dans les braquage de roues à l'arret! Pas la moindre amélioration! Mais ceci n'est pas sans conséquence pour Ford,car à cause de ces ATE Continental,autour de moi,plus personne ne veut prendre une Ford neuve.Qui voudrat avoir,à vie,une voiture qui fait un tel vacarme?! Qui plus est,invendable!
