When I broke my s22u I found restoring to my s7 tab easiest by restoring from samsung cloud. It set the screen up the same and all the passwords were set. Worked a treat. When I get my S23U i might use this approach.
Always uncheck 'settings' when transfering data. I've already seen topic on forums in my country that someones screen is looking worse than his S22ultra(it was yellowish for exemple) etc. Deleting all accesibility settings etc. was helping them to deal with these problems. This time I wasn't transfering anything cause I kept phone cause I can't tell much more. Just something to consider : )

Very true, but I tell people to power down in case they are transferring from a phone that also has a micro SD card in it. Typically, the micro SD card and Sim are in the same slot. If you eject the micro SD card without unmounting or powering down, you could lose some data. It's faster to tell people to power down than walk through the unmount process :) But you're correct. If you don't have a micro SD card installed, you don't need to power down :)
You don't need to turn off the power to add or remove a sim card... It might even ask to restart depending on if your manufacturer installs vendor bloatware from your mobile network. A cable is much faster and uses much less power, but maybe it doesn't resume? But smartphone backups are annoyingly lacking.

This was really helpful but for whatever reason my photos don't show up as an option to transfer from my Note 10's SD card (to my new s23ultra). Only the videos. Anyone have any ideas? Im using the smart switch and I tried to see if it shows up using the wifi transfer option and the cable transfer option.
Hey! So, I need help! 😭 smart switched from an A32 to the S24 Ultra. Google messages doesn't receive my audio messages or video messages that were in Samsung messages. I've backed up, factory reset, tried a different method and NOTHING is working. At one point, my group messages in Google messages were separated. I tried using Google 1 as the backup data and also Samsung cloud. I think that method triplicate the SMS messages and left me with zero MMS ones. I have NO idea what I am doing wrong.

What is the quickest way to restore or get all her info on her new device? She has a Samsung account as well as 2 Gmail/Google accounts. She has cloud storage on both but it isn't showing anything to restore. Any help is appreciated.

Hi, yesterday my s24 arrived and today I did a test with Smart Switch and it seems to have worked. During the procedure it asks you if you want to import everything or if you want to make a selection. I chose "everything" and it imported all the photos I had stored on the SD card. If you tap on "everything" it shows you what will import (apps, photos, documents etc) and in a separate block you will see the SD card. In any case, to be sure I had made a backup of the SD card.
I just got my S23 today, coming from a Pixel 6. I have backed up all my apps and data to Google One storage. Is there not an option during the S23 setup to restore data and apps from a Google One backup?
Why is switching phones still a big PITA after all those years of development? I've switched from a Note10+ so it should be the best possible way and yet I have to log into apps again manually and many apps & games will have lost their setting or progress.
Because Android's security system doesn't allow apps (including the Smart Switch app that does the data transfer) to access other app's data without that app explicitly giving the data to the other app
So I was transferring data from my S9 plus to my new s23 ultra (with wires), but I saw my S9 plus battery running out. At this point I had to unplug it at 76% data process and charge the S9 plus and go back to do the data process. Will my data process continue from 76%? Or will I have to do it over again?

Smart Switch is glitchy now. I could only transfer a few apps at a time and i couldn't transfer any messages older than 2 years. The app would crash or disconnect from old phone. S22 Ultra to a s23.
I tried the transfer twice Galaxy note9 to S23 and both times it will not save my google chrome website shortcuts that I put on my home screen. Any idea how I can get those changed from them being greyed out and stating I have to update but when I do the update it does nothing. Actually I believe that is saved to your account not necessarily the app. Once you have logged into the wallet app with the same account info the tickets were on, they should still be there ....

Both, haha. The Fold 4 has been my daily driver until now. I'm switching to the S23 Ultra at least until I finish all of my deep dive coverage. We'll see if it stays in my pocket after that. I absolutely love the Fold 4 because of the large inner screen, but the S23 Ultra has dramatically better cameras for zooming in. And since I have young kids in sports, the zoom makes a BIG difference for me.
so my current Samsung device has a microSD card and I don't have an extra microSD card for my new device so I'm planning on reusing it with my new device. My question is since the files on the microSD card and internal storage are larger then what i have for internal storage space on my new deivce can I back everything up using the smart switch windows app, to my PC. Then wipe the sdcard, install it into my new samsung phone and transfer everything from the backup on my PC to the new phone, during the initial setup of the phone? Basically doing what you did between the two Samsung phones but using my pc with th backup on it. Or would i have to do the initial setup of my new phone first, then within smart switch on my phone go to the restore option and restore it/transfer all my data from my backup on my PC?
does the smart switch have the glitch this year like it had last year where if you would switch over your data from an old phone, there may have been a bug in the transfer file that caused you to get worse battery life? i want to just use smart switch but i would much rather do a fresh reset this way i do not have to encounter that bug
If you're concerned about battery life being affected. I would uncheck the "settings" and "home screen" options. There's a chance that a setting changed for you last year that caused the battery drain issue. Also, double-check the apps that you transfer and make sure you're only transferring the apps you really want. Some unneeded apps may drain extra battery.
Nope, everything you need comes in the box unless you're transferring from an iPhone and don't have a lightning to USB C cable. In that case, you need the adapter I show in the iPhone section of the video.
This is a disaster, i should have called samsung for help 16 hours from s22 ultra to s 23 wireless. ??? Samsung called and they said wired is FAR faster??? 1 hour 34 min vs 16 hours and I have a 1 gb wireless connection (830mb).
Great step by step except I did not have a nice clean window open up for me trying to transfer from XS iPhone to s23 ultra it was a mess of confusion as my new phone was promoting me to do multiple things at the same time (transfer , set up new phone and get Samsung account all at once) I never used android before and didn't have Samsung account it would not accept my correct pass code and the was no other device for verification, adopter was also not recognized by the new phone right away the keyboard on the phone only had numbers but cod sent has letters it took me 3 hours and I'm still not done yet I had t go to work ... So far as Apple user only I don't feel warm android welcome... Hope I can, sort it out before this phone goes in the trash ... I was really exited for this phone ....
Okay, but how do I transfer to my PC without the cord? I have my S23 connected without wires or cord to my PC but I can't transfer my photos unless I use USB cord
If you have a Windows PC, you can use the "phone link" app (pre-installed on windows computers) and the "link to windows" quick toggle on your phone to connect then in a way that lets you transfer all your data.

what happens to your groupings and how you organized all your apps? do you have to start that over?
in India, we are still waiting for S23U to be delivered. ordered on 3rd of Feb, delivery starts 17th Feb and will be done by 22nd Feb

Nope, everything you need comes in the box unless you're transferring from an iPhone and don't have a lightning to USB C cable. In that case, you need the adapter I show in the iPhone section of the video.
How do I find who transferred my files
This is a disaster, i should have called samsung for help 16 hours from s22 ultra to s 23 wireless. ??? Samsung called and they said wired is FAR faster??? 1 hour 34 min vs 16 hours and I have a 1 gb wireless connection (830mb).
Great step by step except I did not have a nice clean window open up for me trying to transfer from XS iPhone to s23 ultra it was a mess of confusion as my new phone was promoting me to do multiple things at the same time (transfer , set up new phone and get Samsung account all at once) I never used android before and didn't have Samsung account it would not accept my correct pass code and the was no other device for verification, adopter was also not recognized by the new phone right away the keyboard on the phone only had numbers but cod sent has letters
it took me 3 hours and I'm still not done yet I had t go to work ... So far as Apple user only I don't feel warm android welcome...
Hope I can, sort it out before this phone goes in the trash ... I was really exited for this phone ....

I have my S23 connected without wires or cord to my PC but I can't transfer my photos unless I use USB cord
If you have a Windows PC, you can use the "phone link" app (pre-installed on windows computers) and the "link to windows" quick toggle on your phone to connect then in a way that lets you transfer all your data.
