Amrita Singh´s (Saifs first wife) mother was muslim. And if you don't wanna change ur religion, don't marry the man, easy. And Salma most probably did not change her religion (maybe only in name). She and her family has pujas etc.

I personally know Hindus who have changed the name of their wives after marriage - it's a custom among many communities - .I know this woman 35 working in govt - was relieved on transfer from her duty with her maiden name - And at her new place of posting her lawyer husband insisted that she would join with the name her sasural had given - it was explained to him that some legal formalities are to be completed before the first name is to be changed
