- 1965-68 Mercedes Benz 230 that has been abandoned for who knows how long. This classic car has a lot of potential as the paint is pretty good and came with a lot of extra parts to bring it back to it's former glory. Today we will be seeing if the inline 6 2.3 liter engine will fire up and if so, throw the semi-automatic 4 speed into gear and hit the road. Let us know what you would like to see done to this beautiful car! Enjoy!

You couldn't beat a Mercedes of that period for quality.
If it was diesel you could get 3 million miles off a engine
I wish it was a diesel! This inline 6 seems solid tho and the price was right!
You are so funny dude, especially the part where you were driving in the field was hilarious
Appreciate it!
this is how america sound like from other countrys
Is that a good or bad thing? Lol
@@RealSteelFabricationsdefinitely a good thing mate. Your accent kinda has a cowboy twang, strong but easy to understand.
Also I think he means non English speakers.
Its actually hilarious how much that little german car stresses your dad out 😂
It sure was
Puddin just had a vid on one of these as well. The one he was looking at was really rough. This one is a gem.
Ya I saw that. He has one of my favorite channels to watch! His interior looked much better than this one.
Real steel Fabrications: Those old school Mercedes 4 speed slush boxes were direct drive( no overdrive) they normally start off in 2nd ratio unless the pedal is all the way to the floor and shift lever in 1st. They don't always work in 1st if micro switch is wonky, kickdown cable not adjusted correctly or the German gods are simply pissed off. Harsh and jerky shifts are common relative to fluid temp, meaning valve body springs change tension relative to temp. They were low geared back then with no overdrive and 3,000 rpms at 60 was normal unless special ordered with high ratio taxi pumpkin. Big 3 and ZF built smoother automatics than Benz back then.
Wow! Appreciate all the valuable information. You know by chance the correct transmission fluid to use?
@@RealSteelFabrications Wally world Dextron will do,it's cheap and better than decades old fluid. Those old Mercedes have a metric Allen torque- convertor drainplug,so a 7-8 + quarts of all new fluid is possible. I've used Wally world Dextron in my ZF 4 hp22 Peugeot wagon , never had any issues with their tranny fluid.
Love the ole one finger compression test haha
“That stuff taste like cherries”
Cool vid. Would be cooler without "Poppa Buzzkill" lol
lol, he was pretty negative this day
@@RealSteelFabrications Nah-he was just being a Dad--i thought that made this pretty funny.
I hope the guy beside you finds happiness. Great videos man, keep it up
Appreciate that
I feel like that car is super rare, only because I don't ever remember seeing a Benz sedan with those tailfins/ deck lid tail. I bet it's worth some serious money to the right collector
I have never seen one around
".....And room for a pony." Hyacinth Bucket.
In that truck?
They do start in second gear.
your hood ornament is probably around the neck of some Crapper, i mean Rapper. Your Dads expressions say so much--I bet he had a time with you when you were coming up. Good teamwork to get it going.
lol! I couldn’t tell if he was having a good time or scared
I want one!!
It is for sale
The ants 😂😂
Crazy things were everywhere!
Jeez was that your wife next to you?😂 Meh meh meh 🤐
What do you mean lol?
@@RealSteelFabricationsI think he was referring to your passenger yelling at you how to drive. Typical of a wife to do that 😂
She’s a beaut Clark
Sure is
She got some serious junk in her trunk 🤣
You know it!
