Televised American political advertising has a long history. It starts with a guy called Ike and changed, dramatically, with a guy named Barack. In this episode, we explore the evolution of televised political advertising and how it's tied to the ways Americans stay connected to one another.

Did someone go out of their way to get the previous video taken down?
Why the removal & repost?
We had some complaints about the soundtrack volume - so we fixed it.
i have a problem with the interlaced footage
@@ajplus..You guy's do a great job..or "gal's".lol
The Qatari dictator had a change of heart.
the soundtrack is rowdy and unnecessary . Love ur work
Thanks
The soundtrack confuses me! It really doesn't fit.
Hey wait a minute this seems familiar. What are the differences (corrections?) between this version and the previous one that was up?
i am thinking the same
was wondering the same thing...the only difference seems they added eisenhower to the title.
Its the same video - but we had some complaints about the soundtrack volume, so we fixed it and re-uploaded.
It is the targeting of ads that is worrisome. All citizens should get the same message to make a judgement of the candidate. Anything else is just lying.
Well, I know in my state elections for governor I was deciding between Pritzker & Biss. The lack of speciric actions in Biss's ads ultimately made me not vote for him. I think he could've been awesome, but he couldn't pull on much.
Also Jeannie Ives took a hardcore Trump flavored politics compared to Bruce Rauner & it was like I thought she was charismatic but her policies would've put me in danger.
Another thing to note is that 40% of our 10 prior governors have been sent to jail so my thoughts are that if someone's willing to take that seat then they're going to jail anyway & I have faith in the power of getting them being removed over wrong doing. In other words if they're willing to go to jail over the mud slung I'm okay with it.
Tamimi wasn't happ with the content and later regretted?
i loved Bernie's ads.
How can 40 million households have TV's in 1952, & 10 times more households 1962? That's 400 million households ... not that many people in America today.
Multiple units?
I like ike
Is this vox or some shit lol
Oh no wait it's better it's AJ+
vox is definitely better than aj+ bro.
Nah all i hear is propaganda on vox buddy
AJ+ is old school type documentaries while also being journalism which i love.
Both are shit, but at least Vox isn't controlled by a dictator.
erlich so USAmerican media is controlled by 6 companies all headed by old cishet white men. I'd suggest we look at the motivations of Qatari's Al Jazeera & USAmerican media before we start saying not controlled by a dictator because son of a gun USA has been putting more & more power onto their presidency. Also USA workplaces are rarely democracies (which is a complaint when talking about free speech on the internet & social media.)
@@eve36368, I don't see what skin color has to do with it. and you can't really put all the american media in one group, it's very diverse as you must know, at least as diverse as the American people. Of course Qatari media is not diversed at all, since as i stated before, it is controlled by a dictator.
Hey u want to be in one of your videos

There is NOTHING principled about political advertising, ESPECIALLY anything connected to AOC. You are giving a positive spin on socialists! Favorite political ads: Reagan’s “Morning in America,” Bill Clinton’s “Hope, Arkansas,” and Ted Cruz’s parody of “Office Space” - “It’s Good to Be a Clinton.”
Socialism is good
Ok let's cut the crap, which minute does AJ+ propaganda starts???
