Put it in manual mode and then just drive it and don't shift gears the car will automatically shift to upper gear as the RPM reaches beyond 4000 this will give you best acceleration.. I own both cars jeep compass and Tata safari so i know it.. By the way jeep is way beyond tata the Ride quality and driving dynamics is unmatchable!!

Check the kerb weight of both cars. Tata must be the heaviest. Gearbox must be tuned according to the weight of Tata Harrier and to get better fuel efficiency
