Peter is just crazy good. I'm amazed how well he can point out specific regions and even labels. Keep up the great work! Such nice content with the mix of fun and games with some seriousness.
As an Australian I have to say I really enjoyed watching this! Peter, you're a gem and you have a great sense of humour :) Jae Hyoung, I love hearing what you have to say and all your videos are informative and entertaining. Really great channel and a pleasure to watch your videos. Will definitely be seeking out some of the wines from around the world you guys suggest on this channel.
D’Arenberg Dead Arm is my favourite wine of all time. I had a 2006 bottle recently which had been well cellared and it was the most memorable wine experience of my life. They’re an iconic Australian brand always overshadowed by the bigger producers and always outperforming them.
I really enjoy these two cats talking about wine. Jae is so nice that one may not believe it; however, he is truly as he appears. Both are true wine lovers but totally unpretentious. Thank you.
lol..."Hawkes Bay" was said so casually. Peter Koff makes a wine tasting feel as easy as a soda pop tasting. "Oh, yeah, that powerful orange tang, that's definitely Fanta." "Nothing like a warm spring day in the sun with a glass of Sprite." "Caramel-tar brown, almost opaque, some sweetness on the nose, strong sweetness but not too long and no residual sugar. Definitely Coke Zero." "I get red fruit, a bit jammy on the nose, sweet lingering finish... Yeah, Cherry Coke."
Funny story..a friend of mine went to a blind tasting a while ago and a recent vintage Koonunga hill shiraz was preferred to a 20 year old Grange by all that attended.

I tried that penfolds wine before and really enjoyed it! It's nice to know which wines I've tasted and like that are high quality or not. Definitely helps me learn more about the wine! 🍷
Australian riesling tends to be fantastic and fantastic value. The Great Southern area of Western Australia produces some really exceptional ones.Perfect with seafood.
feel bad sometimes for Australian wine makers, they get there vineyards looking nice then they have a really bad fire season and it either destroys them or ash damages the fruit and they have to start over.
I am so with you on the Craggy Range Te Kahu! I gave it a much lower score than everyone else, and was worried I was missing something. But you both have made me much more confident in my opinions. This is what I said: "This was hugely disappointing. On opening this was a $10 bottle of wine. Completely flat and lacking definition. With time it opened a little to reveal some vanilla and dark fruit, but really nothing of distinction and nothing worth anything like the asking price. For me this is a wine riding on reputation rather than quality."
Guys, living in New Zealand, I could not agree more with all the points, and when you were pulling out the bottle of the red you both liked and Peter said there is Shiraz, a thought flashed across my mind "it is Koonunga Hill" (under 15 nzd). I am not good at wines but Australians have also Shiraz called McGuigan. It costs 7 New Zealand dollars (cheapest in NZ) and I believe it might be semi-dry, but very close to Koonunga hill, would be interesting to see what you guys think. Totally agree on NZ red (equals crap). Thanks a lot for this episode!
Everything in South Australia in terms of wine isn't very far from each other Clare Valley Barossa Valley Mclaren Vale Eden Valley being the main ones. In terms of Australia they are very close to each other all in South Australia and about in a 2 to 3 hour distance at most.
I agree, the Penfolds wine at that price is really good. Picked up a bottle of d'arenberg Wild Pixie Shiraz for £10 & thought that was exceptional value! As always, hilarious comments from Peter & great laughs from Jay! Cheers guys
I finally found the Penfolds Koonunga Hill, and well... I respect Peter. 1000%. But I guess I do not have refined taste in wine. Cause this wine is too bitter for my taste. It's fruity on the nose, but too bitter on the palate for me. It is like those people who enjoy an endive salad. And you're like "what? How can you taste ANYTHING beyond the bitterness??" I guess I will never understand wine. :(
That scene is great and amazing!!!!! I am recently interested in Georgia wines, but it is quite tough to find those wines in shops and department stores. I have never seen wine connoisseurs talking about Georgia wine. So, it is mysterious for me. Can you film that, please?? Through this youtube channel, I really want to get to know what good Georgia wines are with Peter's assessment!
As someone who lives in Australia. I 100% agree. I think most cheap white wines here are good. But cheap reds, other than entry level penfolds, most of them are not enjoyable. I'd much rather buy an italian reds if I'm spending under $20
I have to disagree, i find pepperjacks to be lovely characterful red for under $20 as well as jacob creeks double barrel series. I find australia has some of the best $10 to $20 range of red wines on the planet. However if you said under $10 i would agree
Great to see some tasting from NZ other than Sauvignon! Though surely dedicate a tasting to some of the variety in high quality NZ pinot noir? Good examples from Marlborough are still in few and far between... Martinborough is where it is at!
The Pewsey Vale has never been a wine I could enjoy. It’s always been reductive with sulphur notes that never seem to blow off. And one thing needs to be clarified: “petrol” in a Riesling is not a desirable characteristic. In Germany , petrol in a young Riesling is seen as a fault resulting from grapes that have undergone heat stress. Petrol does start to occur in Riesling with age but it is nowhere near as strident as in some Rieslings from hot climates like the Pewsey Vale.
Loved the video... went out straight away and bought Penfolds... £8.50 not bad considering our taxes so we did pay for some of the wine!! Really enjoyed it but 14.5% kills me. Back to Bordeaux. Penfolds does it again ... Their entry level wines are great value for money.
To be honest, penfold 389 definitely not worth money they are asking for .

Funny story..a friend of mine went to a blind tasting a while ago and a recent vintage Koonunga hill shiraz was preferred to a 20 year old Grange by all that attended.
Grange is a marketing success, only a few vintages are truly good.
I’m so glad you’re tasting so many South Australian wines. McLaren Vale is doing some amazing things.
The Barossa Valley is well known, the wines are too big and bold - for me anyway.
Yes. I like them best of all SA shiraz.
Wonderful video that put a smile to the start of the day. Was reminded on this commute to the office to revisit the big one soon again; Penfolds.

Perfect bordeaux... not perfect !! Great stuff Pewsley Vale always 👏 a good Riesling

Australian riesling tends to be fantastic and fantastic value. The Great Southern area of Western Australia produces some really exceptional ones.Perfect with seafood.
Clare Valley in SA produces much better. One of the 3 best Riesling growing ares in the entire WORLD.
Crawford River is better than all of them.
Great! Australia and New Zealand. I am pretty sure I can still find penfolds here!!!
Henschke is where its at my friend 👏
Peter talks so much hot air, but by God if I don't bloody love it
feel bad sometimes for Australian wine makers, they get there vineyards looking nice then they have a really bad fire season and it either destroys them or ash damages the fruit and they have to start over.

Pewsey Vale Riesling has been a value purchase for over a decade now, great wine for the $$$
I am so with you on the Craggy Range Te Kahu! I gave it a much lower score than everyone else, and was worried I was missing something. But you both have made me much more confident in my opinions. This is what I said:

Expert: Baha, they make wine down there?
Also expert: names every region as well as the local climate, type of grape and soil pH
Love that channel...drinking good wines and having fun also!
I agree, the Penfolds wine at that price is really good. Picked up a bottle of d'arenberg Wild Pixie Shiraz for £10 & thought that was exceptional value!

d'arenberg has this funky modern building at their winery everybody loves a photo at and a visit.
Same reaction when I tasted the Koonunga hill..
I’m tasting and drinking it NOW. Woohoo.
Great video Penfolds wines never disappointed.
Such good vibes, I really enjoy watching these videos 🙂
I saw the craggy range on very cheap special, now I know why :)
I got so happy when I saw this!
I finally found the Penfolds Koonunga Hill, and well... I respect Peter. 1000%. But I guess I do not have refined taste in wine. Cause this wine is too bitter for my taste. hey jay and peter... love your channel. would you consider making a vid about Israeli wine? would be much aprecciated

You should come to Portugal and the Douro to taste . Hit me up if you like to plan that .

Ring Bolt from the Margaret River is a fantastic cab for $20. -Chris
i like the white wine from Marlborough , i paid 5€ for a bottle and its super cheap for that quality
my recommendation, try Bowen Estate for Australia Cabernet. just 30ausd a bottle.Shariz u can buy John Duval entity.

I am going to specs tomorrow for the Penfolds and Riesling.
The Pewsey Vale has never been a wine I could enjoy. It’s always been reductive with sulphur notes that never seem to blow off.
Next time due the chilean and argentian wines, and tell us which one is better.
Penfold red is replenished weekly in my cabinet 😂 I mean, it’s $10 a bottle why not?
Amen to that.
Hey Guys - love the channel. Would love a South African Wine breakdown. Peter, do we not produce good wines?
Laughing magpie shouldn't have green characters as my previous experience.
Loved the video... went out straight away and bought Penfolds... £8.50 not bad considering our taxes so we did pay for some of the wine!!

I am amazed the good wine was Koonunga Hill. Interesting.
I’m not. I’m drinking it NOW.
Yes! Been patiently waiting for this series
can you guys do, orange/amber or skin contact wines? cheers
Is there a list of wines that Peter recommends and a store or website he thinks is best?
Could you please not share the prices of the wines while tasting so the tasters can have a very uninfluenced experience while tasting the wine.
love this channel
