This album was released when I was a junior in high school. I remember listening to "Yesterday Once More" alone in my bedroom and feeling tears well up in my eyes -- something a high school boy wasn't supposed to let happen.
I had this when it was new, I was an aspiring trumpet player in high school and Doc gave me something to shoot for. Majored in music. I just got rid of all my vinyls last year, hated to part with this, thank for posting. this album shows how today's music really really sucks. I love these arrangements, live msicians none of this electronic autotune crap. Doc was the master.
Thanks for your comment - you are exactly right. There was/is no substitution for seeing the great ones live, or at least on recordings like this. What they played is what you hear! This LP is the classic Doc. Total command of the horn.
I have to agree,,, today's music really is awful. Music peaked with the easy listening music of the 1970's... it has been down hill ever since... pathetic stuff today is just garbage...
Thanks for visiting and listening!! I have to believe this was recorded in Hollywood, seeing that a majority of the backing band was from the Tonight Show, and this was probably a project done in tandem with the Carson Show. But I will pull out the LP and see if it says. TT
+Trumpet Tunes I've been listening to this since i was 13, when i came back from a year-long hiatus from trumpet. This tune brought me to tears, and is largely why I continued playing and still play 6 years later.
