    I’m a local amateur boxer and you’re definitely right. I found a cheaper MMA gym that let me train on their heavy bags in the corner. I sparred a little with the MMA dudes there (for fun) and my boxing instincts made me eat kick after kick. Leaning; parrying, moving, shuffling, etc. like a boxer in a cage, leads to nothing but set ups for the other guy to take advantage of.
    I prefer boxing, it’s my love. But hats off to MMA. It’s a lot braver to step in a cage than a ring.

      @@brydejintebitch2560 Ever heard of... opinion? And how they're... subjective?
      Boxing is tough. Duh. You need better reflexes and lungs to push through boxing. But, you only have to react to hands coming at you; faints, etc. MMA, a fucking flying knee could end your career at any point. Sure, a punch could and has done that. But it's far less likely today. In my opinion, you haven't fought in a cage or kept up to date with MMA if you truly believe what you just said.

    Agreed some of the punches Tyson landed in this fight dropped guys in his real life fights while he was wearing 12 oz. Boxing gloves. that were 6'5" 235 lbs. Imagine being hit with his wide open power in 4 oz UFC. gloves. The game is very unrealistic. Tyson was so strong that in a clinch he would easily manhandle Royce. Tyson shoved much larger guys around a ring in his prime.

    The one trick to beat Mike Tyson is to let go of the left plus button after you press left or right. It makes you get back to neutral position a split second early. But I think kick boxing is the best. Good boxing can help alot. Look at masvidal vs Diaz when they where punching masvidals boxing outclasses most of his opponents

    • @Guyver2391
      @Guyver2391 Před 4 lety

      @Olly Tropics What are you basing that off of? Tyson LOVES the UFC. He is fascinated with the sport. He also knows the aspect of BJJ that matters is it takes a lot of studying, which he would be happy to do. If you think Tyson just walks into the cage with no idea on what he is doing besides boxing, you're sorely mistaken.

    • @Guyver2391
      @Guyver2391 Před 4 lety

      @Olly Tropics There is a ton of fighters who started as boxers and learned BJJ afterwards (Antonio Nogueira, and GSP as examples). There is no reason why Mike Tyson wouldn't be one of them.

    • @Guyver2391
      @Guyver2391 Před 4 lety

      @Olly Tropics A lot of the fights with Tyson would be solely dependent on taking him to the ground and thus he would have to train far more in that than his stand up game. So during camps he would have plenty of practice on that front. The hardest part for opponents would be getting him to the ground, and doing so without losing their head. Tyson was destroying grown men with pillows attached to their hands. Imagine being nearly gloveless. Different animal.

    • @Guyver2391
      @Guyver2391 Před 4 lety

      @Olly Tropics I said Prime Tyson, so well after he has established himself as the Tyson of fear. Tyson started boxing professionally at 16. If you ripped Tyson out of the boxing ring at any age between 23 and 35 and put him into a training camp he would absolutely destroy the competition. The only people who would beat him are the ones who have extensive training and mastery in the ground game. Considering Tyson would be in the heavyweight division that is not going to be too many.

      Guyver2391 which Antonio nogueira are you talking about? Both of them did do boxing, but also did both judo and Bjj alongside it, and both had already won and participated in several world jiu jitsu championships before beginning mma. And GSP started out with kyokushin karate and later picked up on judo, bjj, and boxing. Even before his mma career, he trained primarily in jiu jitsu under Renzo Gracie. I can’t say both nogueiras and gsp were pure boxers when they started mma.
      As for Tyson in mma, he would need several years before competing in mma, not just a single training camp. Wrestling and jiujitsu takes a very long time to learn in general, and if you’re competing with the top mma guys you’d have to be pretty damn proficient in it.Tyson himself knows how good he’d have to be in the ground game in order to do mma successfully.
      His words when asked about fighting Royce Gracie in 1993: “Well, in ’93, I was in prison, so there wouldn’t have been a fight, but there is no way I would have won. I had no idea what was going on with that type of fighting and would’ve been taken by surprise”, Tyson said. “I would have had to train in that particular art of fighting before that happened. That’s a particular art. You’re not going to go in there with just your hand and not have a great ground game. You also need a great wrestling game to be successful, and you won’t be exciting, as well. You have to have both games. You have to know how to wrestle and box. That’s just the truth.”
      And not just that, something else that’s dangerous is the kickboxing background. If you’re an infighter boxer and you run in with your face lowered, you’ll get a knee to the jaw, and I have firsthand experience with that. There’s also the clinch, holding you still and preventing those powerful hooks from doing their full damage, which can be transitioned to takedowns in mma. There’s also kicks that’s another factor. It’s hard to charge in if the opponent knows a good side kick or spinning back kick, or even leg kicks to wear down movement.
      I agree with what Olly is saying about if mike had gone down the mma route instead of boxing, that he’d definitely be a top fighter, but when it comes to transitioning, I believe boxers have the hardest time.
