The Plaza NYC
i lived in this hotel for 4 months as a kid while our apartment on w 64th st was being remodeled all at the expense of the company my father worked for. there were no condos then and FAO schwarz was across the street. i walked to school along 59th to McBurney at 63rd. fond memories of everyone who worked there the doormen, elevator operators, front desk, maids all long gone now. ice skating, the zoo, Christmas magic golden lobby.
That's soo cool.
That is a wonderful memory. When I moved to NYC I would often visit this hotel, filled with admiration as I roamed through it. I don't know when you lived there, but I was the one who designed and built the Muppet area on FAO Schwarz's second floor, which I have to believe a 'kid' would have enjoyed, along with that entire amazing toy store.
nov 75 to march 76. FAO at that time was at the corner of 58 and 5th. i believe they moved into the general motors building in the 80s. this was the white glove elevator operator's time and they had a gigantic staff round the clock, at 11-12 years old i was very independent on the streets and into the south end of central park during the day. A different time long gone.@@MyTripToThePhilippines
@@kaspar_1982 I worked for the Muppets overseeing this large Muppet area more or less around 1985. That store was one of a kind. I feel certain you probably went to Rumpelmayer's once or twice.
We had the palm court and only when my grandparents came in from the Island as my father was too cheap to sit at the plaza especially with children, we would go to the street for Italian Ice and my father would argue about the price rise from 35 cents to 50. i come from a time when kids were "seen but not heard" and were not the center of attention as they are now, this was fine by me as it provided my brother and i with great freedom and maturity. @@MyTripToThePhilippines
The hotel used in the film Home Alone 2, lost in New York
Watching it tonight again!
Back then it was Trump Plaza.
Yeah!
I came here cus of that movie
@@ajharwoods1974 me too
Everyone remembers home alone with this hotel but i remember this hotel from loving the movie Big Business from the 80s with lily tomlin and Bette milder ❤ it’s still a big dream to stay here!
Don't forget the movie, "Arthur" with Dudley Moore, or, the Hitchcock film, "North By Northwest" - both filmed there as well.
Everyone’s here because of Home Alone 2
I'm here bacouse of home alone 2.
Hits different this time of the year
LOL same
YES. THIS. IS. PERFECT
I remember first seeing this in "Big Business"

You forget the home alone 2
Très très chic 👌
I'm teasing myself . Going in Jun 24 for 3 night and with the home alone tour . No1 on bucket list and can't wait
I LIKE IT.
As a hotel, a pale shadow of its former legendary self. For me, the closure of the fabulous Oak Room as a restaurant open to the public (receptions only now) was the final nail in the coffin. The Carlyle or Pierre are far better genuine luxury hotels.
The 2005 remodel is tacky...the ultra lounge look is dated. Should have embraced the classic characteristics of the architecture. If they had maintained standards, there would have been no reason to sell-off half of the hotel for condos.
I agree with everything you said. It’s a sad time in our modern society where we lose the heritage of how hotels used to operate. There is also a coldness to the renovation to this piece of history in NY.! The modern look is just too cold for me. There is nothing here that would make me want to visit this place. The oak room and other valuable assets to the Plaza are just a cold shell of its former self. Such a shame what modernism has done to history.
Yep. Living off a long lost reputation for tourists who do not know any better.
Araci, minha saudosa esposa e eu, estivemos hospedados no The Plaza Hotel, de 07 a 12 de Setembro de 1997, com janela voltada para o Cental Park.. Maravilhoso! Saudades! Valeu!
The point of the hotel isn’t to be the best in the world, it’s just to experience the scene, watch a race, gamble, see the beautiful people and shop.
It’s a lot of fun if you lean into the total package vs just expect the hotel room to be the main event
❤️❤️👍
@2:35min I don't understand the part about the central park and fifth Avenue. What happen during the 2008 renovation?
just means there isn't a view of Central Park anymore! It's blocked by the other buildings basically for most of the guest room and some suites!
Tres jolie je suis déjà aller dormir la bas
If I went to NY i ll join this GYM 🗽👍
This hotel literally charges you more than $1500 just for 1 night
Damn for real 😩
3600 I'm paying for 3 night . Me/gf and daughter who is 5 for 1 room

How to working here 😢😢?
Someone see my comment please help me for this ?
*It may seem like a small innovation but ... using iPads for interacting with hotel services is fantastic Vs. having to call down.* 🏆
Here I was filming myself in the house
Kevin ! 😄
I can't afford to stay at this hotel. I'd rather work there & pray that free rooms are a perk.

Awesome video, looking to be blessed one day to spend a night at The Plaza Hotel. I am a student studying in Virginia. I have a few small aspirations, and they involve graduating from my Undergraduate Program, applying for and getting accepted into my dream Graduate Program, and becoming engaged to my best friend. I saw this Hotel as an option for a Wedding Venue. Thank you for the priceless information about The Plaza Hotel, very informative.

PLAZA SUITE - a Walter Matushakayasky film by Gene Sachs 1970
"All major subway lines are within a one to eight minute walk away."
Me: "How is that of interest to VIPs being chauffeured to/from The Plaza Hotel?"
So us rich people never take a train?
why to the purpose your say... just for a one line visit
I been there year ago, cheapest room was $1500. Mixed fillings, definitely overpriced and not worth. Old wood windows that noisy toward street, was bad view. Old hallways on each floor(nothing special), lobby and elevator is cool but old fashioned for older and rich people. Room was cool, great bathroom with golden fossids. Great tile work and big bathtub. You didn’t miss anything special
Yep. It’s likely priced for exclusivity to welcome the haves and exclude the have nots.
The Plaza is living on a long lost reputation. Yes, back decades ago it was THE luxury hotel to stay at in NYC. That's where Sinatra and the Beatles would stay, But those days are over. It needs a complete renovation and its customer service pales in comparison to other 5 star hotels,
"KEVIN YOU SPENT 967$ ON ROOM SERVICE!!!!"
Funny how it doesn’t mention home alone 2
The only reason I’m here watching this video.
BenRek inc game station
Don't forget,Leona Helmsley,the queen of mean 😁😁
Home Alone 2
The furniture looks 100 years old ( the style)
Is visiting the lobby free?
Some hotels charge for that too

I have to say that we don't take outside capital for the hedge fund. Done. They just said 50 billion USD. Locked up. Thanks.
Always reminded me of The Dakota on steroids.
Even though its kind of elitist now the hotel itself is really charming. I am obsessed with architecture but I wasnt good at math and didnt push myself after school to get good and try to become an architect.
I would have been a good one maybe who knows but when I look at old architecture through the ages up til the 20th century I am amazed at some of the craftsmanship and skill the people who make the architects vision become a reality.
Like how did they even build some of this stuff in the 1800s or 1300s never mind ancient china or cambodia...
But I love around the world when you see where people have the chance to be totally responsible for building their own homes and given the chance without regulations on materials etc... that kind of architecture is equally interesting to me and it reminds me of what people are truly capable of given the freedom and the chance to do so.
I could go on but i should save that shit for school cos nobody wants essays on yt comment section. I love a good long comment personally but im not adverse to the contrary either. Bla bla bla.
Odd. Gold-plated sinks but ratty chairs. Hmmm.
Don't spend about $1000 on this hotel, otherwise you might be busted.
The Waldorf Astoria is more prestigious and luxurious than The Plaza.
Alien girls: full. Complete. Others who were making attempts but not picked have to accept the reality that you were not chosen by Alien groups. Done. Thanks. Full. Complete. Your planet gets a portion of the said fund and share a bit to you because your parents are top of each of your planets. Done. Thanks.
Brilliantly weird comment. In the best possible way. We should be friends.
I am so rich 😂

The rooms are actually pretty dumpy. I was very disappointed.
beaufil always wanted to stay there; hmmmm
The Plaza? Tell me you are a know nothing tourist who watched Home Alone 2.....
Wow, in ‘In depth look’ ! …..in 5 min 27 sec ! …..mmmmm……hardly
The Plaza Hotel sucks compared to Heaven, they would be considered a dump.......
Is this a 5 minute long advertisement?
I watched a review by a guy, who stayed there and it's garbage even for 300 dollars, actually should cost about 70 bucks. Dirty, hard used furniture, "hot" water is just warm, so no hot bath. The managment just uses all this tales about the beatles, home alone etc. to sell garbage for 10x price.
No restaurant no coffee poor house keeping. You stay there not me.
The room looks ugly.
for a luxury hotel it sure is dated and ugly
You sound poor.
The pictures here fo not do it justice.
