    My uncle said that Swiss will be sending a A319 aircraft from now on instead of the Avro100

    • @CPlanespotting
      @CPlanespotting  Před 8 lety

      The largest aircraft that can operate at LCY is an A318, an A319 is a tad bit bigger than that, but I have heard rumours about them starting up with the CS100 :)

    Behind the runway at LCY there is a small car park next to the landing lights. You can park up there and have the planes fly directly above you as they land or in some cases, takeoff!

    Is it harder to land here than other airports?? Seems very steep decent or is it because its abit windy? Great video by the way!!

    • @CPlanespotting
      @CPlanespotting  Před 7 lety +2

      Glide slope is 5.5 degrees compared to 3 degrees slope for most airfields. Which means steep approach, also no ILS landing here, so pilots fly the aircraft in. Thanks for watching

    How is it that only Embraer E-190/E-170 jets land at LCY (apart from the odd Airbus A318)? Is it because the runway is too small or another reason?

    • @CPlanespotting
      @CPlanespotting  Před 8 lety +3

      The steep angled approach and short runway limits larger aircraft from taking off. Hence why the A318 does a fuel stop at SNN, as it could not take off fully fuelled for JFK

    @Reqnaw10 Před 8 lety +1

    Excellent video. Many thanks. Do you (or anybody else) know what that red/yellow chequered service vehicle, parked adjacent to the runway for the duration, was supposed to be doing> Clearly not awaiting an opportunity to conduct a runway inspection. Looks like a sinecure to me, but I stand ready to be corrected!

    • @CPlanespotting
      @CPlanespotting  Před 8 lety

      Sometimes they standby to make control the presence of birds, and they can also monitor aircraft landing to make sure small debris don't fall onto the runway on touchdown

    • @Reqnaw10
      @Reqnaw10 Před 8 lety

      Casey Planespotting Thanks. Possible, of course, although one would hope that bits falling off landing aircraft are rare events! Whatever, enjoyed the video. Keep up the good work.

    can anyone please tell me why the propellers on the saab aircraft appear to be turning very slowly?Is it an optical illusion?

    • @CPlanespotting
      @CPlanespotting  Před 8 lety

      No just they move very fast for camera's, the frame rate on the camera can't keep up with the rapid movement
