i just dont see how people can be producers and also not be in the slightest bit musical? i rely so heavily on my musical knowledge it fascinates me when people don’t have that
I used to play about 5 hours a day with jam/backing tracks and along with CDs of bands I liked. Then one pothole and 3 broken fingers later and I had to scale it all back.
Years ago, I was trying to learn how to play the drums. I was never very good at it, but I always had a lot of fun. I practiced for at least an hour every day, and even got a little bit of time jamming with a couple of friends. As a side thing, even though I normally can't carry a tune in a bucket, I did really well with Pink Floyd's In the Flesh, and almost as well with Jethro Tull's Locomotive Breath (I forgot one of the lines). So, there's no such thing as practicing too much, in my humble opinion.
For the first year of my life, I'm making sure to pick up my guitar every day. Somedays it might be three hours, sometimes fifteen minutes, but I'm managing to work on something daily. For me, a giant part of it is to work on an idea or exercise and not just noodle. I'm nowhere as good as you, but I am improving inch by inch. Thanks!
This is great since I struggle with the multitasking. I find I’m much more effective focusing on one thing at a time. As a result, guitar has taken a backseat. Kudos to you, Warren, for making it work. ❤

I’ve never played guitar while writing an Email 🤔 I need to try that
