How to make nanoparticles with fire

  • Georgios Sotiriou and his research group at the Karolinska Institute spray small droplets into a flame reactor to form nanoparticles. In this way they can control the properties in detail of the particles. The nanoparticles can be used in a variety of areas, from antibacterial coatings on medical equipment to protecting and transporting medicines to the right places in the body.

    No sufficient explanation about flame reactor and how to solve oxidation in open flame reaction and so on.

      to me the flame rector looks like a microwave plasma torch but i would think any clean flame would do if hot enough and for the liquid as a example use a solvent like ethanol with copper 2 chloride as the salt and when you spray it into the flame if oxygen is present than you get copper 2 oxide if oxygen is not present you get copper metal.
