  • This feature alone is why I can't go without an octatrack in my live setup.. The best part it is.. you can still use it as a sampler with this method!! This also works the same on Octatrack MK2

Setting up in Studio Mode allows you to actually control how much of the signal is being mixed with the external effect(s). Gives you a double Level control readout and everything. Takes the technique in this video to another level. It's super cool.

Ivan Karaulov “No one, not even you will remember if we were good samplers or bad, why we sampled, or why we sequenced. No, all that matters is one machine stood against many, that’s what’s important. Sampling pleases you, Elektron, so grant me one request, grant me greatness! Thank you for this, seriously.

Heard that the gain staging is the octatrack's kryptonite. Heard in a forum one guy explaining that same thing, even straight sampling, is better on the mpc live. Better connectors and overall audio quality, at least compared to a mk1. Owning an octa this pushed me to have the live. And the battery. With external fx powered with powerbanks or fx pedals with batteries...sounds soooo interesting. Hope to try the same in a few weeks. Great channel.

    Great video.
I have felt for a long time that Elektron need to build a matrix mixer.
10 in 10 out unit with side changing and queuing, some powerful effects and sequencing. Enabling you to sequence your audio routing and effects.
some digital multi effect engines, analog filter, digital filter, analog compressor, digital compressor, analog EQ ... you get the idea.
Make it a mega clean interface over usb2 and you would be a paradigm shifting device. I would call it Automiks

Another very helpful tip, thank you, I really appreciate and enjoy your tutorials. I very recently obtained the digitakt and the ocktatrack mk 2 and I'm just starting to learn and understand these two machines. However, I was doubting my purchases of both and was thinking that I might have made a mistake. (I bought them used for great prices) Your tutorial has eased my mind and Im thinking that using both together might just work out fine! I'm thinking that I could use the Digitakt as a drum machine/sampler and also use the Ocktatrack as mixer/sequencer? There are many other other possibilities I'm sure, If you have any thoughts I would to hear them. Thanks again!

OR, even cooler, don't mute the cue out on the Octatrack and mix in parallel the 100% WET pedals via the Octatrack crossfader.
