I heard the game may be a euphemism for drug abuse. That's why when you tried to leave the white haired girl she gets forceful and staying with her felt blissful but distorts the world. The monochrome colors with her was suppose to signify that something wasn't quite right, and the world with your true friend was filled with color signaling the road to recovery. That's why when you show your true friend the picture it's just you, and hiding the truth from her led to more distortion. Emphasizing lock of acceptance and control that's why you wanted her to push the matter further.
