I had an ongoing joke with a horror movie buddy of mine for years that we were going to make a fan-made Grave Encounters 3 and call it "Grave Encounters 3: Even Gravier"
The second one confirms what I thought of the first one, they were not trapped, they in fact walked out and just ran around in front of the building hallucinating. As for this second group, they had a moment of lucidity, managed to escape and then killed each other when it set in again.

They are already out but over their eyes and the camera there is an illusion I guess is the better word. But instead of an illusion in space it is an overlay.
So glad you finally did a viewing of Grave Encounter 2! These movies are so fun! Grave Encounters and GE 2 was filmed in Riverview Mental Hospital in British Columbia, Canada! They also used this location to film segments for The Butterfly Effect, Black Christmas ('06 remake), Halloween (Resurrection), Jennifer's Body, Supernatural, and the X Files! Among many, many other movies! I know they used to let visitors walk the grounds, not sure if they still do.
The true villain is Alex, who was so obsessed he pulled friends into a deadly situation, was far more interested in making the film than his friends, and was willing to kill someone who loved him, who had literally minutes before saved his life. Lance was just insane from nearly a year of being alone in a haunted asylum. Other than the asylum ghosts themselves, Alex is the only real villain of the film.
This is what I call a 'serves you right!' film. Where the characters are fully aware of the dangers and what happened to people before them and decide to go anyway.....I can't feel sorry for them. Serves them right
12:20 that's horror sequels sometimes lol we have to suspend our disbelief of people's stupidity, at least people in the first movie of a franchise have an excuse the people in the second film usually have none unless they're looking for their family members or something

I've got a soft spot for these movies. I can't watch found footage movies because I will literally vomit before anything happens but these are just enough for me to handle 7 out of 10...a guilty pleasure
oh no the CGI and that wig... even worse than the first not better I laughed so hard at the camera floating and how the backpack just like poofed out when it fell back in omfg
I do not like this one. While I will acknowledge its good as a sequel, the characters are so unlikable that I cant get into it. In the first one, I was rooting for all of them to get out of there and I was crushed when they didnt. Even Lance/Shaun, for all his faults, was still someone I was rooting for. The only person in this one I even faintly was rooting for was Jennifer and even then, I wasnt too upset when she died. And, honestly, I think the writers knew that they were such unlikable characters and thats why they completely changed Shaun's personality, so that we would be forced to see him as an enemy, a more tangible one then the ghosts. His madness after nine years of being locked in that building might be a part of it, but I still think it was overkill to make up for such crappy main characters.

I believe that the red door in horror movies signify that the character(s) are at the doors of Hell. Something bad always comes out of the red door.
Those numbers that flashed up on screen are the approximate coordinates for the hospital they used for a lot of horror shows and movies.
