F2L - All 42 Cases [Intuitive Explanation]

- After learning beginner F2L, the next step is to know how to best solve each of the 42 possible cases in the front right slot. This might seem like an impossible amount, but a lot of cases are really similar as you will see. In this video I cover all of the 42 F2L cases, and give algs (algorithms) that solve them in the Front Right slot.

⁉Should I copy your finger tricks?
If you can, yes! That’s why I have the execution for each case at x0.25 speed. However some of the finger tricks might be a bit difficult in the beginning.

⁉In what order should I learn the cases?
You could go through the entire video first to get an idea of what cases exist (and try them on your cube!)
But would advise learning one set at a time, in the order of the video.
⁉Are these the best solutions for all cases?
Yes and no. All these solutions are great, however there might be algorithms online that make more sense in certain situations. The focus of this video is learning easy to understand solutions, not to memorize algorithms.
⁉For cases with two solutions, which one do I use?
You decide! Using the one you prefer works, or you can even alternate between two solutions in your solves. Later in your cubing journey, we’ll see when it makes sense to use different solutions for a case.
⁉ Why do you always rotate to the left when solving pairs?
For cases where you need to rotate, I chose to rotate to the left so we could solve the pairs using L/U solutions in a way we’ve already seen. If you’d rotate to the right (and solve the pair into the back), you could solve the pair using R/U solutions, but then you’d need to learn new solutions.

Cube head you probably won’t see this but you’re the best tutor for cubing. I learned beginners method from j perm. I could sorta do f2l from him, but 2 look oll and pll made 0 sense. Later with your vids, I understand perfectly! I even learned full pll from you. Hope I can learn this and full oll too. Just wanted to thank my favorite cubing content creator!😊

I love your videos and watch the entire thing with no idea what you are really doing but your solves and voice is so soothing. I have very basic knowledge of cubing, nearing a consistent 1min solve but my brain is too small to start doing CFOP and other algorithms lol! Cheers

I thought this was the video I was waiting for. But then I realized there’s only a couple of cases you showed that I do differently. I do a lot more sledge inserts though. Also I thought it was bad to rotate while doing an f2l pair. Like in the middle of the alg I mean. Overall I think it’s a really nice video and will really help a lot of people. Thanks Cubehead!
Rotating isn’t always bad, sometimes it makes going to your next pairs easier :)
