I share your videos so often in a support group I run for relapsing polychondritis (RP). RP is a very rare rheumatic disease and it is so important for patients to understand how their bodies work!

This was very clear and short in terms of the different structures and their locations. It really put what I read into perspective. Thank you.

The epiglottis does in fact move from vertical to horizontal when we swallow, and is called epiglottic inversion. The larynx does move up and forward out of the way to protect the airway. But both parts are essential.

Great point! I may not have been clear about that. My intention was to inform people that laryngeal elevation plays a major role, one that is often overlooked. When many people teach this, I find they only focus on the epiglottis. A new version with clarification has been posted here: czcams.com/video/xSkOMGFs_2c/video.html

An excellent presentation, very clear. Thank you for taking the time to do this. It could be watched multiple times to take in all the information you gave. Perhaps, if you do more work, a video of the vocal folds with arrows indicating how it looks and works inside a living throat would further clarify things, especially for those who are not doctors or SLPs. I am a singing teacher.
