I second this desk. I have one and it’s awesome. Built like a tank and I looooooove that it can go from sitting to standing by pressing a button.
Love this setup. This might be the one to go with considering how good iPadOS 16 is gonna make the iPads going forward. Also with universal control, having just one keyboard and mouse setup for multiple devices is fantastic.

Love the setup. I had a similar plan but will cover the one cable with a cable spine. I am sure flexispot has this. The other final step is to get a outlet installed on the floor for the cable to connect to. this way you can completely cover it with the cable spine. I'm just waiting for the electrician to come to the appointment. I expect it will be a few hundred dollars. But I am getting a couple of them installed throughout the house.

This desk setup is awesome! You’ve built something great there. It’s also good that iPad is finally getting closer to work as a proper computer and iPad OS is allowing to push the iPad to it’s true potential. Stage manager seems to work pretty well too. Unfortunately I won’t get to experience it cause my 2020 iPad Pro won’t support it 🥲
I have a Kensington StudioDock with a widescreen 4K monitor hooked up. I’M IN IPAD HEAVEN. I can use my USB-C for power instead of monitor out. Plus, the StudioDock serves as a hub for other USB peripherals and SD cards. I also put an iMac Rain Design MBase under it so that it’s more eye level.

Please help me, about a year ago, you showcased an amazing desk that was wooden and ergonomic. The stand could go from sitting to standing, and you could collapse it and take it with you from place to place. I'm ready to buy it, but can't remember for the life of me which video it was in. Could you or your audience please help me? this desk was manufactured by a mom-and-pop shop, and they only had like 2 products that they sold on their webpage. It was birch or light that you had on your channel, but it was available in other choices of wood if I remember correctly. THANK YOU!!!!!!! One more thing, keep up the great work, my family really enjoys all of your reviews and genius knowledge that you provide to us in your videos!
nah cuz its incredible how ipads actually become somewhat of a replacement for a laptop/desktop pc for some people. i could never move on from my rig hell its even hard for me to daily drive my m1 air but seeing this video actually makes me wanna have a setup like this for my ipad

Your setup really makes me wish I used my iPad enough to justify all the extra peripherals that go into tricking it out. In the very least, it looks like I will my upgrading my 2018 iPad Pro later this year (if Apple does release an M2 iPad) just for stage manager.
Awesome setup! One thing missing on the desk is a streamdeck xl, that thing is awesome for macros and all kinds of other things.it sucks it's not for iPad but if you are using a laptop you don't know what you are missing until you have one for a while and go on a trip without it.
I’m looking for a stream deck, which one do you use? I need to get the audio from the iPad though. I don’t know if it’s possible with streamdeck. I basically need a program that it’s on chrome only and doesn’t work on iPad :(
Great setup! I tried so hard, Chris, to use iPadOS/iOS as my only operating system(s). Did it for several months. Went back to my MacBook when moving several 100 files became tedious. Everything is just easier on MacOS, even simple copy and paste of text. I just purchased a new MBA, and put away my iPads, external monitors/keyboards, etc. Maybe I'll try again someday!

Interesting wander into what must be shark jumping waters (is an iPhone setup next?). I’m a solid iPad Pro user - heavy daily use for 4 years - but so far have shied away from going full kb/mouse while at desk. Shall have a go 👍

I like the adjustable height. One concern with that set up is it difficult to touch the iPad? Looks to me purely for trackpad interaction

You say it’s nice to have the extra storage and RAM with the 2TB HD iPad Pro. Question though, aren’t the apps only able to use 5GB of RAM (or around that)? Does the extra RAM make a difference? Or is this so you can have multiple apps open at once?

Totally fleshed out setup! Very cool. 💯 Also, just wondering, does anyone know if older iPad Pro models with USB-C but without Thunderbolt also connect to external displays via HDMI? Tried a USB-C to HDMI cable but it did not work with my 2018 iPad Pro.
I know my ancient iPhone and iPad with Thunderbolt both work perfectly with a Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter. But it’s just a video source and it works best with TVs. I don’t know if the IPad Pro has different issues because of the higher resolution

Ha, yeah I cleared out my old desk before I set this one up. It wasn’t too bad setting it up but would have been easier if I had an extra set of hands.
I would maby ditch the macro pad for a Streamdeck XL. Then maby run it with Bitfocus Companion

@@ChrisLawley Just notified that my Mac Studio will be arriving a week early next week. The Studio Display should be a week later. I also use a 15” MBP for work. Plan is to use the SD as main display for work computer, which sits on the Rain Design iLevel2 and will serve as second monitor to the left. I ordered the vesa stand and magnetic mount for iPad Pro (slick) you shared, which will be situated to the right of the SD, and above the MS. iPad Pro will serve as second display (Sidecar) for MS, as well as controlling via Universal Control with work MBP. I could extend the display as well with iPadOS 16, but can’t really see a need/use for that now. The iPad lives with me when not in the office. Again, thanks for video.

I just use the iPad camera. Webcams aren’t supported yet.
Dual monitor setup with Studio Display and iPad, both VESA-mounted on a wall mount (or a single desk mount) would look soooo clean I guess.
That would be awesome! I kind of regret not getting the studio display with the vesa mount, but the stand is so beautiful.
@@ChrisLawley Really relatable choice tho. The stand looks beautiful and it's a shame that you can't change it like you can with the Pro Display XDR.
My suggestion, maximize the use of iPad w pencil. If it can convert instantly into pencil sketch mode, it should be perfect.

you are quite the keyboard geek! 🤓 you must have tried a bunch of keyboard tools - which one is seen @9:36? do these tools help remove the flatter chiclet keys (I know blasphemy!) on an Apple BT keyboard as well?
Those are just generic mechanical keyboard tools I got from Amazon. The Apple keyboards a soldered together, and you really don’t want to take them apart. If you do, it’ll break them.
@@ChrisLawley oh to be clear - I have a spare BT keyboard and I'm able to take keys off to replace them but it seems precarious & wondering if there is a tool that makes it easier :)

Hey Chris, can you comment on using the BN009 macropad versus using a Stream Deck? BTW I was disappointed to see you using the directions to build the standing desk 😂😂😂
BN009 works with the iPad, the Stream Deck doesn’t. Though you need a Mac or PC to program the BN009. But once programmed it works great with the iPad.
ALWAYS FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS! Those are words to live by. 😂

Does anyone else feel like Anker Magnetic Chargers heat up too much? I have 2 different ones and they both make my phone so flipping hot.
I’ve never had that issue, though I don’t use the phone charger for a long period of time. I just like to top of my phone, especially during the iOS beta period.

Yeah. It looked a little self-aware. I enjoyed the sense of it.
Looks like Flexispot discriminates against UK customers, the specs for the E7 are nowhere as good as the one you showed on the specs comparison sheet.
I also found out that their desks are manufactured in China, as Flexispot itself descended from a Chinese OEM called Loctek.
I avoid Chinese made goods wherever possible, because the quality almost always never holds up over time, compared to products manufactured in Europe or the USA.
The power of the iPad is to be able to use the pencil 🤷🏽♂️

@@pinakmiku4999 I have now seen many illustrators that use the Apple pen and an IPad Pro to replace a Wacom tablet. It’s all about what you actually need. But there are more people who use them full time than you think. Most normal content consumers buy the 329$ base models, not a fully upgraded iPad Pro

If I ever find a good high quality vesa stand I’ll try it. But this one does the job and looks fine.
