Ahhhhh. This 1st movement: perfect pace and decided musicality. So Schumann. Much respect for expressing the music over the pace. You allow the necessary space so we can take in the discussions that instruments are having with one another throughout. This space also allows us to hear overtones--I use that word loosely--of Beethoven, Wagner, Mahler and others, as well. It's so powerful to hear those. Extraordinary flute playing, as well. :-)

While I agree that it is a lovely performance, it is sad to hear that the distinctive French style of playing, which is very notable in the horns, has been lost.

Zinman is a very good conductor and I gave us an special gift with an outystanding Orchestre de Paris
Zinman did this at the Proms too. One of the very best concerts of the year!!!
