Sounds to me like this song is from Sanguinius' perspective considering that he died fighting Horus.
Actually it was inspired by Cpt. Garviel Loken and his last stand on Istvaan III against the Sons of Horus, his former comrades and especially First Cpt. Abaddon. But I tried to keep the lyrics in a more general perspective, so of course there are other interpretations possible :D
