I'm a professional pyrotech and I have to tell you after 20 years of shooting fireworks that had to be the BEST street show I've ever seen....hats off to Richmond!!!
Are you taking the piss? This is one of the most unsafe, dangerous firework displays I have ever seen! I fire for a professional category 4 firework company, and here in the UK, category 4 is not on sale to the public, because it's too dangerous. I can see at least 10 different dangerous things wrong with this. Just some of them include: - Audience way way way too close - People running around in between the fireworks going off - No forestry helmets or protective gear for the person lighting them - Power lines and lights directly above - Houses, cars and flammable materials right next to the fireworks If I was caught firing a show like this in the UK, not only would I loose my formal cat 4 license to fire, but I would most likely be sent down to prison by health & safety executive. If you are a professional, and you're from the UK, you know full well you would be in front of a court explaining to a judge why you thought it was acceptable! I just pray that you are not actually a 'professional', because you should know this is NOT in line with professional practice standards. I know that laws are different in the US, but even so, this is just dangerous.
I was competing with the block in front and we had a few good ones, and we would wait for each other to go, of course we save the best for last, but unfortunately they ended up winning.

I am a display operator/Pyrotec For over 25 years I’ll have to say good job man / i’ve done over $20,000 shows my favorites are still family and friends in the backyard keep it up / Save cost if your whole neighborhood put in / Also keep in mind you’re a hero to your family especially your kids these are the things they remember

I do the same thing every year. Hose the cakes first then sweep and dispose of. When you do that the cops see that you respect the city and your community and are less likely to shut you down in the future. Plus I heard the cop say something early in the vid about power lines and that's another thing you always gotta look out for when shooting in the inner city. Luckily I have a spot just ouside my driveway where there's a big gap between all the lines. I wish all street pyros would follow these rules and HOPEFULLY someday fireworks will be legal nation wide and we won't have to worry about the cops but even then you should always clean up your mess and most importantly DON'T shoot late at night or all thru the night. Even the people who love a good 9pm show might hate still hearing it at 2am. I know every city has there own noise ordinanced and quite times so try to obide by them. I personally never shoot later than 10pm except for a small shoot off on NYE which never last more than 5-10 mins. If we behave like responsible adults then less people will fight to make pyro even more illegal. Though we will still have to deal with the several hundred thousand people who cry about their pet's emotions in response to fireworks, smh. Like I'm gonna prioritize your poodle being scared for an hour once a year over my family and friends' enjoyment and a tradition in the US that stretches back several generations. Not gonna happen, lol
