    16:02 Stevie forgot an important benefit of Infinite Impermanence over Effect Veiler, there is a spell "Called by the Grave" which negates effects of MONSTERS in the graveyard, so it's designed to be a handtrap killer. So because you have to discard veiler to activate it's effect, it can be stopped by a Called by the Grave once it hits the graveyard but since Infinite Impemanence is a TRAP, it is immune to Called by the Grave that can only hit MONSTERS, which makes it a way better Handtrap. This and the collumn disruption makes the trap an absolutely Power Creeping version of Effect Veiler.

    • @amethonys2798
      @amethonys2798 Před 2 měsíci +10

      The only time Veiler is really ever better than Imperm is if the body matters like when striker used to bring it back with selene for the accesscode line or upcoming with the white woods synchro searching it.
      In every other scenario Imperm wins out because it is more flexible and it doesn't make Talents/Thrust live (more relevant than a one of CBTG). A lot of the time it is usually better to just hold Imperm for your turn and treat it as slightly worse chalice to help break boards and Veiler being opponent's turn only (main phase specifically so it doesn't even hit draw phase plays) makes it a lot less flexible.

    Lightning Storm vs Evenly matched could honestly go both ways, Evenly is the much stronger card (not only in terms of it's effect) and was a kay card in multiple formats to deal with the backrow/card advantage/combo style midrange decks like Striker and Altergeist that struggled to deal with the card, it also was a cornerstone of the blind second Striker deck back in the day, without Evenly those formats would've been drastically different, meanwhile if Storm was removed from the game nothing would change, it's the best going second backrow removal taking the spot of cards like Twin Twister with the caveat of it being more restrictive, it sees more play in a wider variety of metas and decks but is it actually the stronger card? @@GaryGlass1 MBT is one of the bigger Yugioh content creators. He collaborates a lot with other people in the space, primarily Cimoooooooo and is known mostly for being quippy and just all-around entertaining.
      If you still watch YGO content I really recommend watching the History of Yugioh and History of Jank series over on Cimoo's channel. They go through the different metas of the game mostly set by set, analyze what cards were good at the time, MBT explains a bit of the history and context, and then they play a set with decks from that era. History follows the actual meta, Jank follows decks which were popular and/or fun but not necessarily tournament-winning in that era.
      Cimoo and MBT are the people keeping the YGO space fun in my opinion. They frequently just do stuff that engages with the community and finds interesting ways to innovate content.
      In particular Cimoo is responsible for several "just for fun" challenges and formats that people have picked up including the Progression Series (a draft series where you open packs set by set and then duel with your ever-expanding library of cards), Master Duel Masochist (Master Duel ladder where you open enough Master Packs to make a minimum playable deck and then get to open a single new pack whenever you win a match), and the Master Duel Arena format (like Hearthstone Arena, but using a tool he helped develop with YGOProDeck.com that pulls from the Master Duel card pool and rarities).

    To add more context to the Veiler vs Impermanence it was more seen as powercreep. Veiler was an instant staple way before Impermanence ever existed and was at some point fairly pricey not as much as Impermanence, but Veiler was a staple for a very long time, at some points was played from 2-3 per deck and was not as cheap as he said back in those days. If you want to go with longevity I'd say Veiler would be the card.

      The thing about evenly is that it's more format dependent, sometimes getting evenly'd means you're scooping but sometimes it's not that good, while LS is not as good as peak evenly but it always side deck playable
      I think that's the reasoning, but resolving evenly for your opponent's life savings feels better

    This was a really interesting bit! I (mostly) agree with the comparisons, but a few of them were so close that I think you could have made a case for the other. Lightning Storm vs. Evenly Matched and Effect Veiler vs. Infinite Impermanence in particular... although it's those really close comparisons that lead to the most interesting conversations.
    Evenly has its limitations, but banishing facedown is huge. I'd probably prefer to use Evenly over Lightning Storm - but opinions aside, Lightning Storm being semi-limited indicates its stronger overall.
    Impermanence is typically better than Veiler, although there are reasons I'd prioritize Veiler - Impermanence can't be used from the hand if I already have cards in play, and I can use Bystials on my Veiler if needed. Veiler also lets my opponent use Triple Tactics and their own Bystials, though, so I would give it to Impermanence overall (although I hear it's a really close call between Veiler, Impermanence, and Ghost Mourner this format).

One guy had this deck with a monster that allowed him to summon a certain type of card from the graveyard by sacrificing another monster. One of the funniest parts of Eldlich Skill Drain is that the trap monsters have their effects as trap cards and as monsters they're vanillas so Skill Drain outright doesn't impact the deck's plays.
    Come to think of it, has anyone tried to run Tyrant's Throes in Eldlich? It could be funny. Even if the Golden Lord gets removed from the field you could just send Throes to the GY.

    I wish he would have mentioned extra stuff like snatch steal being an equip and needing to stay on the field to keep the card. Might have made him think about it a bit more, sometimes there can be too much context and just confuse them, but stuff like this just makes them think about it more so could have been cool to see. Also I think it should have been mentioned that veiler is still good and sees a lot of play on and off to this day, just generally along side the imperm. Same idea with crossout, card is great and seeing a ton of high level play right now. Also while im a lightning storm lover, evenly matched if definitely the stronger card strictly speaking

    Personally I would say evenly matched and lightning storm are even for different reasons as they have slightly different uses. Like evenly is more powerful but lightning storm is more versatile and targeted. More powerful in that it gets around all immunity and forces faced down banishment the most permanent removal and it can hit a theoretical maximum of 9-10 cards vs lightning storms 5
    Cause with evenly your opponent keeps their best card where as lightning storm lets you choose what’s destroyed
    I tend to run both cause then if I open both I can use 1 to bait the negate and then use the better one. As far as ratios I go back and forth

  • @dantex05gaming
    @dantex05gaming Před měsícem

    Evenly> Lightning Storm. Stevie touched a tiny bit on it then completely fumbled it. Cards in modern Yugioh have towers that aren't affected by your opponents card effects. Evenly bypasses that by making your opponent out the monster for you. It also alleviates repercussions from trigger effects if cards were destroyed by card effects (both monsters and spell/ traps). Sure the cost is that you lose your battle phase when going second, but it helps generate significant card advantage that it is well worth the risk. Besides nothing is more satisfying than to break an established board your opponent displayed their deck profile to build.
    The looks on people's faces when you say "Main Phase, Battle Phase," or when they negate the first one, but you still have 1 or 2 more to follow up then ask "Does it resolve?" is priceless.

    10:10 The problem skill drain is that it's restriction is so impactful (unlike Summon Limit/Vanity) to an already established board that no deck (except the 2 or 3 exceptions that get heavy value from it) can really afford to use it together with their main strategy. Unlike Mine, it can't be used on your turn to help break a board AND it can't be turned off as easily when it's no longer convenient for you (if you want to end your own mine you could just place your government mandated archetypal field spell).

      A card that sees play in one (1) Tier 2/3 deck is not exactly meta relevant. And if SE struggling with Backrow was an actual weakness more decks would be siding cards that instantly win the game vs them. Runick is uniquely positoned among Stun Decks.

      Darklord Nurse, and Bad reaction to Simochi, makes it so your opponent can't gain life points, and whenever they would gain life points they instead lose life points. Nurse Burn has been an actual deck for a long time, and while the meta has left it in the dust, it has still only gained power as years go by. Nurse is now easier to search, and there are more cards that give your opponent life points.
