Anetha:
A resident of the Blocaus event in Paris, as well as great collector of vinyl, Anetha is a young artist who has quickly become a prominent figure in the Paris underground scene. The Parisian based DJ and producer has been gaining quite a name for herself over the last year on the DJing front. She has played famous places in France and abroad such as Corsica Studio in London, Culture Box in Copenhagen, Concrete and Rex Club in Paris, Grelle Forelle in Austria, Under Bron in Stockholm or Berghain/Panorama Bar in Berlin. Oscillating between acid lines, melancholic melodies, hypnotic patterns and strong grooves, she also likes playing 90’s old school tracks offering a deep and pulsating journey. Anetha definitely knows how to take control of the dancefloor! Production wise, Anetha made her debut on November 2015 with an excellent EP on Spencer Parker’s imprint Work Them Records. The release was so successful that she did a second one in the same label in September 2016 and remixed by Antigone and Spencer Parker. Also, She released on June 2016 a track called Tomorrow’s DNA on Reclaim Your City on the Paris - Berlin 2.0 EP alongside Francois X, I/Y and Abayomi. In October 2016, Anetha with the Blocaus crew presented their new imprint : Blocaus Series. Anetha, as a co-manager of the label, inaugurated it with a solo EP remixed by Stranger. And recently she made a track called Acid Train for the great dutch label: Anagram. The future is bright for this little lady of techno. She is definitely an artist to watch out for!

Is the constant knob-fiddling and headphone-re-adjusting actually necessary, or is it done to create the illusion of a live performance? At 49:52 Anetha places the headphones around her neck. At 50:01 (9 seconds later) she places the headphones on her head, but neither phone is on either ear. What could be the possible reason for this?
I have noticed that many dj's make unnecessary moves, like touching knobs, moving headphones without making any impact to the music itself. Its just a idk visual performance habit. Regarding Anetha DJ skill, she is doing really good job though
Knob fiddling, yes, if you’re playing on a good sound system gradually blending and adjusting the EQs, even a small amount, makes a big difference especially in track transition, however most people listening casually may not be able to hear the difference in smaller adjustments, either because they’re listening on a lower quality setup or may not know what to listen out for.
As for 49:52, you can see Anetha is transitioning the track over, which is why the 2 middle up faders are both up, she takes the headphones off to hear the transition on the speakers fully, then puts them back on her head when the transition is over, so she’s ready to cue up another track.
It's also habbit or the human factor. If you're performing, it's hard to nót touch the knobs for a minute. You feel like everything could be just a little bit better if you'd adjust it a tiny bit. You're also standing behind a desk for an hour while tons of people watch you, so what do you have to do there? A lot of people get fidgity in that situation and put on and put off headphones for no reason constantly.
To top it off, if you could hear every adjustment, the set would sound like utter garbage. If the highs mids and lows would drop and jump all the time this would be hell. You're trained to keep your changes subtle.
That's why i like watching Sleeparchive perform. He just stands / sits there in front of a laptop and not give a fuck. He barely moves it's glorious.
