    The school looks very nice! The first thing that drew our attention is the mascot who high fives students as they enter the school. That’s something that can put them in a good mood for the whole day. Our school used to have a leopard mascot before but we don’t have it anymore:( the learning style and the learning ambience are very appealing and value-based learning is very important since it helps students become conscious members of our society. There is a big diversity of nationalities which helps with the cultural and social awareness. Finally, a large scope of extracurricular activities encourages students to identify their hobbies and develop their skills (Grade 6 BIBA Tianjin students)

      他们很想自己学习好。可是怎么学都没用。因为对人类而言。初一 初二。已经是末班车了。。等不来厌倦期。无法度过厌倦期。人是不会蜕变的。

    As an American style school for non-Chinese citizens from so many different countries, do the students have the daily pledging allegiance to the home country flag, playing of national anthems, etc? How does attending this school shape their "identity"? How much do these students study Chinese language, culture and history? The parents seem to value the transition of their kids back to their home country's school systems eventually, much more so than giving their kids an intensive immersion in Chinese culture. It seems a waste of opportunity to miss out on learning more about China while living there. Do these students make friends with Chinese kids at all?

      No, they don't do the pledge of allegiance or sing national anthems. They created their own community with students, parents, and teachers. It's not tied to one country, they just use many elements of the US curriculum. Regarding learning Chinese culture and language, watch towards the end of the video. It's a big part of what they do so they can contribute to their local community. And yes, there are many ethnically Chinese kids there as well with whom they make friends.

    I would say this school is similar to a Charter school in the US. They have time and money (and often a good behavior and high performing/no special ed needs requirements for the eligibility to attend) so it's easier to have kids stay up on the curriculum and be motivated to do extracurriculars with high participation. Public schools in the US are only funded as well as how much the towns pay in taxes and they have to take ALL kids from the area, so you constantly have behavior issues, high special ed needs, and teachers not able to have all students motivated or reach a similar level of success due to having to lower learning standards to be inclusive to all students or have their class constantly interrupted by behavior issues. I think most educators would DREAM to work in this kind of school or a chater school, but ALL types of learners need to be taught too.

      @dannydawson701 Před rokem +2

      Quite a few public schools in America, especially elementaries with higher levels of parent support, are similar to this even with open enrollment. The charter system is not the gateway to quality education. The largest one in Oklahoma is tied up in an embezzlement saga.

      @@maikelaoshi when I worked in VT they had "act 46" which basically dissolved underperforming supervisory unions (basically a group of districts) and the kids had school choice. I think school choice would be awesome in most circumstances. Then parents would be more invested in where their kid goes, but I don't know how tax dollars would play into it if there are only low income areas and busing kids to "better schools" has them in the bus for over an hour.

    It would be lovely if you could interview a public school in China to contrast the difference with these expensive and exclusive schools. It's clear any private schools that cost 30-40K USD a year better have results, but as a kid growing up in the US in the late 70s and 80s before we began collectively defunding public schools, they were pretty comparable to the private schools some of my friends went to.
