  • The Cayman S is the complete driving experience. With 350hp there is no disappointment here!

    I've just switched from a Tesla Model 3 to a 718 base! I'm glad that I did! The pure torque on the Tesla was amazing! The build quality and dependability were great! The Tesla sucked for long distance trips!
    I have several cars, and each has their own merits! I own an older Boxster, and it is still a thrill to drive!
    But the 718 is as close to sports car perfection that you can get! I'm not sure of why some people base it for the "sound"! Damn, put it in sport mode and the thing growls!

    I Drove a 2017 911 and a 2018 Cayman S from the dealer on the same day, and let me tell you, the 911 felt like the poor man's Cayman S lol. Same price point, but the Cayman S with the sport package was so much more nimble on the corners, sounds, feels and drives better across the board. I've had it for 3 months now and I still get butterflies from it every day.

    Love mine. Interested in the 4.0l but I have to say, the 2.5 turbo is an unreal package. Sorry to say most who automatically argue the 6 haven't driven the 4, or can't own either.

      Glad you said most as I have had them all and it's only since the updated 718 that the sound is growing on me. Will never beat a 6 with a proper exhaust though.

    This is real Porsche
    looks good and for me this 718 is more fun than 911. If you have 911 and 718 cayman both.. give your wife 911 to enjoy herself with comfort driving and you drive cayman to feel like go kart( i like go kart feel)

      The six might sound better but it dosent perform any better. in fact being heavier, thirstier and a smaller power band it a case of Porsche going backwards to please journalists and experts that have never driven them.

    Informative review. I went to test drive one after watching your review. The driving dynamics is nice, but at this price point, the interior materials are actually very cheap. I touched everything and there were a lot of hard surfaces. The design also looks dated as well. I wish it looks more modern and luxurious on the inside. It does drive quite well and I love how it handles. I get that this is a driver's car...but Mercedes, BMW, Audi, also have similar vehicles in terms of performance, yet they offer a lot more tech and much better interior quality and design.

    • @wheelwrightpl9429
      @wheelwrightpl9429 Před 3 lety +6

      At least unlike its rivals this Porsche doesn't have dirty and greasy black-piano trim (regrettably even the new 911 has this cheap-looking trim).
      Also the Cayman has proper instrument gauges (no cheap LCDs like new cars), and most of its buttons are physical as well.
      So all things considered (plastics notwithstanding) Caymans's interior is kindof old school, which actually makes it better.

    • @123antimiro
      @123antimiro Před rokem +1

      What exact materials look cheap in Cayman 718?. I have Mercedes S class latest model driven a two months ago and the LCDs and dashboard materials do not feel expensive to me. I prefer those in Cayman. My company car Audi A6 has black and shine dasboard inside but looks too plastic, awful. Drive BMW in minus temperatures and such a squeaky noises as you can hear in there you would never hear in Cayman.

      This 718 S might be the one to buy at $70k starting which is $17k less before any options. Maybe buy it with just a couple of options for less then $80k. A good compromise if you can live with the 2.5 engine. It’s fast and handling is great. Or get the base at $60 starting.
