"Come with me little one, I know how it feels to be an orphan"
"My mom's right here"
"Shhh"
Lol
🤣
The saddest story I remember reading about was in 2000 a UK girl in Thailand died after being attacked by an out of control mad elephant. Even tamed and trained elephants can sometimes lose their tamed behavior and become mad elephants

This is just the plot of Ice Age 3
After carrying around your baby for almost 2 years; spent so much time with each other, it ends being stolen/taken by someone else
That's just sad... and to know it might or will die...
Hyraladen T On the full documentary the mother naturally reunites with the calf about 51 minutes in.
Lucky Shine oh... well I take back my emotions felt for this...
Thanks though,
What's the name of the documentary btw?
Hyraladen T Natural World Sri Lanka Elephant Island, a few other people linked the documentary in other comments.
Lucky Shine Some of them got reported for copyright, better to look it up.
Similar story in humans. Babies get bombed in war. N hw does tht feel. Imagine
Some creepy kidnapping goin on here
Thelondonbadger Wrong. Sri Lanka is in South Asia. So before you spout something racist, you should get informed first.
angelo altenor shut up
David Velazquez Nah, I'm good.
angelo altenor Shut up.
David Velazquez Go look for a different comment section for insulting people k
Everyone calm down, the mother was reunited with her calf around two days later! :’)

After a day or two the cameraman ( narrator ) said he suddenly found them again together (the calf and its real mom) being fed milk .. As he said there might have been another fight and the mother won it this time

@@eksine not all heroes wear capes
To those who haven't watched the full doco: the next time the camera-team catch up to the calf, it is back with its real mother! It's a really interesting doco called "Natural World: Sri Lanka - Elephant Island" about learning and socialisation between Asian elephants, and this scene of the calf being stolen goes to show how important that learning is.
Do you have a link or something to watch the entire thing?
The commentator said these are African elephants not Asian.
@@LubuulwaChrisFitness dude he's probs seen this scene in there so
@@LubuulwaChrisFitness he did not, he only gave an example of a similar thing happening with African elephants
Lubuulwa Chris Fitness These elephants are clearly Asian. They have smaller ears than African elephants
Granny came in and said ”Not MY Grandbaby!!!” , and walked off with her grandchild. That tone has my Nana’s name all on it.
And the kid napper still just takes it.
First, humans try to kidnap children, then penguins try to steal them AND NOW ELEPHANTS?!
Nobody's baby is safe!
**searches what shoebill mother does to their babies** I made a regretful decision *w*
It's been happening for longer than any of these species have been around.
@hellasow idk if you have seen this by now because your comments a month ago but i think he ment this 2 types of penguins kidnapping chicks czcams.com/video/MLdLyzoj1Uc/video.html
lol I watched that one to
The mother elephant should have called the Department of Childcare Services to deal with this issue to get the authorities involved. That other elephant, Athamalee, appears to be a stalker and should probably have a restraining order placed against her.
zoo05zoo hahahahahah youre sooo funny such an original joke!! Note the sarcasm.
😊😊. Good one
hey now.....
Looool made me laugh! 🤣
This is not a joke , DUDE . WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU . MAY YOU ALSO SUFFER FROM SUCH TRAGEDY .
I NEED HIM FOR CHILD SUPPORT
Maya Thompson lmao
Maya Thompson 😂😂😂
Lmao
Whp knew elephants had crazy feminists too 🤣
hahahahaaaaaaaa hahahahahahahaha!!!!!
That memory of being orphaned never left her mind. Things like this show how intelligent and emotionally complex elephants are - it’s a shame that they’re hunted as trophies and for ivory.
*I hate the thought of this?!?!*
i love your vids
is it even a question lol
do you even know how question marks work?
Brucey so don’t think about?
Do you or don't you
Someone call Dr. Elephil.
Oliver Asio; Haaaaaaaaaa 😆
Bwahahahaha 😂
Or Dr. Philephant
Lol
Hahaha!
Elephants are the most amazing, intelligent animals. I can’t get enough of learning about them . I love the lifelong bond they have . And how affectionate they usually are with one another. People need to respect these majestic animals, before it’s too late . I pray the ivory trade ends . So these beautiful animals can thrive in the wild. 🙏🏻💜💙🐘
I couldn’t imagine being pregnant for 2 years and then someone else comes in and takes my kid. It’s amazing they were able to capture this on camera though.
You sure she wasn't like, "you know what? I would like to not be woken up at 5 in the morning. Baby, be good for auntie."
@@OurNewestMember it seemed like the mother was in distress when the other came and took her calf.
I have seen ants and turtules fight more brutal fights over a small chunk of food and you tell me the best retaliation an elephant had for when someone steals her child is handshaking and head tapping?
karenagen hunder well elephants are far more evolved and intelligent. Besides, they have very close social bonds and structures, they don't want to hurt each other
karenagen hunder Good one 😂😂😂
Err, I think you'll find there is a vulnerable calf amongst the 'fighting' elephants. Animals in always leave brutal violence as a last resort, injuring themselves isnt worth the risks that would follow. Elephants are very gentle by nature so this sort of behaviour is not surprising. You've watched what a few ant videos, now you think your some kind of mammal expert.
Malik Rahman all I was saying was that I expected the mother to throw a bigger tantrum over her stolen baby but surely as a man of your status has mentioned it clearly wasn't worth the effort
karenagen hunder no it wasn't. The mother didn't fighr harder because the other elephant didn't intend to hurt the little one. And because they belong to the same herd, so the calf will never be far away. But later, when she saw her calf was starving because there was no milk, she fought again and won, because she needed to. Elephants don't use unnecessary violence, which makes them awesome in my view.
Chile how you gone take another elephant's baby...this is some Lifetime stuff!
Don't worry, the mother eventually gets her calf back.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂
Poor mom
Go get your own Ethamali !!
How they sort out family issues is a thousand times more efficient than us humans. Love the Grandmother. Problem solver, peacekeeper, protector, teacher.
**mother secretly plotting revenge**
911 whats your emergency?
human : yes, an elephant just stole another elephants baby please get here quick!!!
Ok I am on iy
I mean it
I love baby elephants so much, the mother elephant is so protective & nurturing towards her child 😊
😢 baby elephant
Sharon Perez hello my name jonh Edward
Sweet baby
Don't worry, the mother eventually gets her calf back.
Just let me claim him on my taxes, just for this year!
I dont know how to feel about this... 😂
Yawovi E. Penguins are worse 😮 they sometimes end up suffocating the baby to death by accident cause they are so desperate.
To everyone curious about the fate of the calf - The full documentary is called Natural World : Sri Lanka - Elephant Island, and the story is continued at around the 52 minute mark, depending upon which video you watch.
Next time tell the whole story here.
DID HE JUST SAY SHARING AND CARING?????!!!!???
Yes, but, He was saying that about the elephant, not in his or our view, the elephant view, that one who took the baby from the real mother, He said "to atamali sharing is caring" to that elephant way of thinking, sharing is caring
Penguins do something very similar to this, only its much more brutal. A bunch of mothers who lost their babies fight literally over an orphan because of their hormones. If the chick manages to not get crushed to death, it will not survive because as soon as their "mother's" hormones subside they abandon the chick. It's very sad.
This reminds me of Solomon's judgement
Me too
😂 I was looking for this comment
CPS- calf protective service
I'll never stop loving this soundtrack.
Also you folks in the comments section really need to start paying more attention to the video before making these worthless one liners.
If someone tried to steal my baby they would die.
*brutally*
@Jeremy Stillwell, w o w.
The baby is just greedy not confused. most know their mother's from others. When they are hungry they will follow or feed from anyone.
these creatures are fascinating and honestly adorable/admirable. dem babiez are so damn cute, but really, these beings are really intelligent as well
Never knew this could happen. I always though that the adults watch and protect infants but never seeing a mother loosing her calf to another female
How you gone steal someone’s baby in front of them?? That’s rude.
Thanks ShahidTV for telling us where to find the end of the story. I wish BBC Earth would always mention what show the clips are from, so we can watch the rest.
Now that's something she'll never forget.
wow...poor baby
Elephants are so smart I love them
Elephant so smart I love🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘
Lol Funny how dummies fawn over how elephants are such good mothers.
Wow. Glad u were able to capture this.
I wish people will stop shaming ALL humans, i mean instead of spreading hate why not help each other become a better species? At the end of the day YOU are part of the human race
Wise words. It does make me wonder what the long-term prospects are for ALL species, especially if our species remains earthbound.
It's not stealing... it's sharing and caring....
Fascinating footage
The Hand That Rocks The Cradle - Elephant Style!
Sharing is caring
I feel bad for all three. The baby (obviously), the mother who is having a bad day, and the other female who is most likely lonely and confused since she was an orphan her whole life.
The hand that rocks the cradle.
THANK GOD
THANK GOD
THANK GOD
I just see people with feelings blaming actual Biologist who are actively trying to save a species on the brink instead of being a sad boy or girl in the comment section of a CZcams video.
The majority of comments seem to be blaming "humans" The new favorite internet fad :D
Don't worry too much, if the baby starts to starve then the actual Biologist (not the professional youtube video commenters who think they know better after watching a 4 minute video, sorry.) will intervene, I bet their continue support will help this beatiful animal strive again. KUDOOS to the those biologists who travel a world to help these creatures, surely you deserve a lot more respect than the comment section is giving you. Without your contribution there would be no elephant.
Also! Its amazing to see these types of interactions nice capture.
Why does this comment have to be so underrated?
I totally get where you are coming from, but humans did indirectly impact in this instance; the reason the elephant stole the calf was almost certainly because she was raised in a sanctuary and never learnt any better. Most of the time, elephants wind up in sanctuaries because their parents have been killed by humans.
@@rosebudkeely8153 Nature can really have it's ups and downs.
So what happened to the baby elephant? Why would you post a video without clarification of the outcome?
This is another wonderful video from BBC. Elephants are intelligent and complex creatures. Very interesting video clip.
Love from Kuwait.
ALTERNATIVE TITLE : "the proboscis that rocks the cradle"
Does anyone know how this situation turned out?
Brave Soldi3r the baby will die from hunger.

There’s another video natural world 2013 elephant island at 54 mins shows the calf reunited with his mum. Hurray.
This is sooooo sad 😢 poor elephant calf... 😚🐘💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
At least she loves the Calf
Athamalee acting like Olympia in bird box
Ella Ighodaro Athamalee thinks keepers will show up with milk bottles like in her orphanage?
Elephant: *Don't worry little one, I'll protect you*
Baby Elephant: *But my mom is right the-
Elephant:*I said DONT WORRY LITTLE one!*
She needs to take this case to court!
"I pushed you harder so obviously I won your baby fair and square!"
Sounds like a Law and Order Special Victims Unit case to me! Where’s Lieutenant Benson when u need her??!! Lmao
I watched this is subtitles and they kept saying her name was tamale lol.
Ethamali out here stealing kids 😂
I am mortified 😞
So now elephants elephantnaps omg
"Auntie, I'm thirsty."
Maybe those crazies that kidnap babies can now argue it's nature hahaha
Where my boy Attenborough? Doing him dirty like that getting different narrators. Shame on you BBC.
Liam Wood Attenborough is in everything, and BBC is only one of the companies he's narrated for. He's probably in really high demand because of his work, and may have not been available.
I'm gonna miss attenborough when he pass away ='( old guy was my childhood.
he only does the highest prestige series, with the top production values. this is a smaller series. (Elephant Island)
This is better than any soap opera! Drama!
Elegant kidnapped calf 😂😀😀
there's always that crazy aunt in every family
Most intense fight ever
I ❤️ BBC Earth.
"This is my child now goodbye."
1:46 looks like a big kiss is being put on its trunk by the other elephant.more like a kissing fight!🤣
The maternal instinct is so strong is some animals, that they'll try to take other mothers' babies.
When I was 13 my dog stole our neighbor's dog's puppies. The neighbor dog actually birthed them underneath our home and left them on a rainy day. My dog got them out with our help and we built a little house on our porch for them to stay waiting for their mommy to feed them. But she wouldnt come often and we started having to bottle feed them rather quickly. And so by the 2nd week of them being born, our dog no longer let their mom inside our house. She would chase her off real ugly from our yard. Then she would lay with the puppies letting them nibble on her milkless tiny nipples. At two months we gave them back to the owners and my dog was so sad.
What a sad story!!.
Is it weird that the thought of this makes me feel really uncomfortable because I go onto thinking about how I would feel if this happened to me
Much good! 👍
Fascinating
The orphan female grew up with other orphans , there older females take care for the little ones. Maybe she is confused and wanted to protect the baby
Grandma shouldve been more strict with her. Give Grandma the authority she needs!
Grandma being like "Come, dear. This might get ugly."
Que acontecerá à pobre e linda cria ?..a vida da cria por um capricho de uma outra fêmea...é deveras uma história desconcertante da natureza!!! Parece uma novela real copiada de uma qualquer novela humana!!
Poor mother.
i didn’t notice female elephants have no tusks
I wonder if the other female elephant that wanted the baby, had a baby that she lost tragically.
OMG. So what happened. This is better than any soap opera.😐
Plot twist: the female elephant was an ivory poacher.
Animals are so wonderful. They have so much to teach us humans. If only we could do a better job of stealing babies.
Whoever scores these videos is a master.
SO YOUR JUST GONNA LEAVE US HANGING LIKE THAT?!?
If the calf survived to be reunited with it's mother, why does the video start with the calf on the ground dead or at deaths door?
I wonder if the baby understands its being stolen. And I like how the recorders just stand there and say "CLOUT FOR CZcams INTERSTING VIDEO NO ONE CARES ABOUT BABY"
Amazing
That baby is going to go hungry for two days at most before it takes off and finds its biological mother.
