I love how, in the prozd canon, the judge knows about Rocket League, but sports cars is apparently too new a concept.

Ace Attorney Fun Fact!
In the anime, Maya Fey wears a completely different outfit for the channeling rite. This outfit appears to be a set of white robes, along with an ornament known as a "medium headdress". Wright uses the lack of this ornament in one of the photographs to prove that Maya could not have committed the murder.

Out of all the culprits, Ini/Mimi Miney is one my favorites. There's a lot going underneath the surface that I can really sympathize with. I think you can make an argument for her having survivor's guilt from having to wear her dead sister's face for more than a year, day in and day out.
Ok so now this case is finally done, I have to say what they did with Morgan Fey’s name is pretty cool. Because in Arthurian legend, Morgana le Fey is ultimately trying to push her son (and king Arthur’s son/nephew) to the throne. Which is the plot of the case.
It’s my first time watching a playthrough of this game, but as soon as I heard her name and that she’s the mom of Pearl my brain went “uh oh”
I really like this culprit, their motive isn't quite "sympathetic" but it's "understandable." The accomplice, on the other hand....

"I was going to say I'm scared but maybe I'm not as scared as SungWon." A perfect foreboding line to leave off on. But yes, this was such a great playthrough for this case, with great voices all around. I re-emphasize my praise for Angel's Ini/Mimi and the range they show in the different sides of the character. Steve is also doing great as Morgan, and SungWon's Franziska is so fun. Great stuff all around! Now off to the Big Top!!
Maya hadn’t seen Mia since the first game before her murder; so that picture of them reuniting is just that more touching.
Also I am going to mention this because I always mention it. The anime actually handled the next case a LOT better.

I really liked this case. The story, the twist, the tie-in with Maya. And the way that whole dialogue between Mimi and Ini at the beginning (which Ini mentions again in her testimony) takes on a whole new meaning in the context of the truth.

I can imagine that in the Japanese version, since, as Angel mentioned, the driver's seat is on the right, it was probably an American car which makes a bit more sense for an imported sports car tbh. And they probably just made it British here instead of Japanese since it's kind of more common knowledge that the British have it opposite from us than that the Japanese do.

I always thought it was interesting how both 2-1 and 2-2 use right vs left and semi-common knowledge (how to play baseball vs UK roads) as pivotal points
Maybe the car thing was more obvious in the original version and the car was japanese to begin with? :O
@@AM12399 if I remember right, in the Japanese version the car is from the USA (so the door direction got flipped in the localization to make it work). so in Japan it might be more common knowledge about the opposite side of the road thing. And baseball is culturally very important in Japan as well. So these facts probably are common knowledge in Japan

Wow i forgot how nuts this case goes, i usually think of 2-2 as kind of forgettable but its actually pretty fun. And 2-4 is my fav case in all of ace attorney. If only 2-3 wasnt there 😅

Moments like 5:02 ~ To be fair, the witnesses weren’t truthful with Franziska… even though they weren’t on Maya’s side. So it’s not like the prosecutor knew everything & was trying to conceal certain facts that wouldn’t help her win. I kind of feel bad for her…

Without spoiling anything, I DO like Turnabout Big Top. I understand the gripes many people have with it and even share those gripes, but the dubious cast really did make for an interesting mystery, imho. Like.... who-really-dunnit?
the culprit and motive sure was interesting, but uh...the Everything Else around it doesn't do it any favors. I love the anime version of Big Top, but the case itself...not so much
this is as far as i’ve gotten in the ace attorney series, so i cannot wait to see what the cause of sungwon’s despair is in the coming episodes!!!

turnabout big top can be annoying, but i really do like the story it's telling (like the way the crime happened and why it happened). it fits in really well with this game's overall use of complicated criminals and motives

I always forget just how much I love this case just because it’s not one of the main 3 popular ones. There’s such a compelling atmosphere to it. And of course we meet Pearls!
I totally get their reactions at the end, I just would've liked it if they had tried to mask their disdain for the next case as much as possible so as to not colour Angel's first impression too much. But yeah, it's a stinker, so I don't blame them..
2-2 is such a great case, it's probably my 2nd favorite case in the series behind 3-5 (even if I think 2-4 is better overall). Very impactful with one of the most interesting culprits in the trilogy. Had me on the edge of my seat the first time I played it and rewatching it here reminded me of how good it was.
Can't wait to see the reactions to Big Top. That one's gonna be a real clownshow.

In the middle of the trial, Phoenix relies on an article about the car accident, which quotes Ini Miney as saying she opened the right door and got out of the car. He uses this to establish that since the car is from the U.K., that means she was actually the driver and not the passenger.
It just got me to thinking about what if there was an error in the article? For example, the journalist was used to cars having the passenger seat on the right side, and so they misremembered Ini Miney as saying they opened the right door when she actually said she opened the left door (or didn't mention which door she opened at all). Obviously this doesn't apply here, but in a different scenario where she actually *was* the passenger, that could happen.
In that case, we (as Phoenix) would end up relying on bad information and making a wrong deduction. Obviously, in-game we're meant to take the article as reliable, but this is just a thought I had.
i had an inkling that ini was actually mimi. i wish their names were flipped to make the pun work better. Ini should be the older sister name
I've always thought people oversell how bad Big Top is, I mainly disliked it for the pacing and convoluted it is (so much backtracking)
I get WHY people don't like certain plot points (no spoilers) but some people act like they'd rather get a root canal lol
A big issue is that JAA only has four cases and this one adds nothing to the overall story. And for a "standalone" case the mystery is just not fun to unravel.
To me Stolen Turnabout is even less enjoyable though but that has one likable character apart from the main cast.
The bad stuff just stands out when the rest is really good.
One of the other issues is that it makes some parts MUCH harder for no good reason, such as (vague spoilers regarding gameplay incoming)
…giving you penalties for PRESSING the wrong statements in a particular cross-examination. The first time I played the game, I found that such a bewildering and paralyzing prospect that I preemptively gave up on trying to figure it out and went straight for a walkthrough.
So that, combined with how annoying most of the characters in this case are, was a big contributor to making Turnabout Big Top my least favorite case of the franchise.
For me it’s like. The difference between a bad case with SOMETHING to enjoy, and a bad case with NOTHING to enjoy. In most cases people have major gripes with, at least I’m getting some respite now and then and talking to characters I actually like. In Turnabout Big Top I don’t like anyone at all

Having watched the Game Grumps play through, I seriously believed this case would last another in-game day.
I get SungWon’s dread of playing the next case. And, yeah, I hated that case my first time playing it too. But, honestly, it grew on me over the years. Surprisingly, I find myself even liking it now. I think part of it is due to having seen how the FFSTV streamers voice the characters too, so now their spin on the characters is stuck in my head. But, nonetheless, I do absolutely expect Angel to hate this case their first time playing it.

honestly I think a lot of people wouldn't hate the case SO much if the romance was cut from it (or a certain character was aged up). The anime got rid of the romance aspect and told the case's story much better

I gotta be honest I genuinely think Turnabout Bigtop is way too overhated , it's certainly not my favorite case by a long shot but I still liked it and consider it good
a lot of people (myself included) consider it one of the worst because of certain characters' ages and their choice to include a...questionable romance plot

I just find it funny that Mimi went to a huge amount of trouble and expense to import a British car. Admittedly I’m not a huge car buff so I could be wrong, but the UK is not a country that springs to mind if someone mentions a fancy imported car.
(Apparently the car was American in the original version! And people drive on the left in Japan.)

Wait- I don't understand... Why the groaning at big top? When I played it I thought it was a fine case, far from a favorite, but its not bad or anything. Its highlight is the characters in my opinion.
You uh... should probably check the ages of particular characters. Other than how convoluted a lot of people find the logic, the "humor", and how bad the writing for Regina in particular is, the age issue is a major source of horror.

Absolutely no one will blame you if you skip Turnabout Big-Top. it would be interesting to hear the voices that you all choose, but its not worth it to deal with the characters
Nooo better not to skip it. It is a bit more of a "filler" case (if those even exist in ace attorney) but it still has quite important moments to the story. Plus better to have a whole experience for Angel.
