    Can you do this with whipped icing if someone wanted whipped icing instead minus the fondant parts?

      I’m not sure to be honest, this cake is entirely covered in fondant and I am not accustomed to using whipped icing. I do know that it does not play well with fondant as I’m sure you already know but I believe with a few different piping tips you should be able to pipe a lot of this design if you have a steady hand and the will to do so. I have found in my research that if it’s not too heavy, you can back your fondant with chocolate or candy melts and that will create a barrier between the fondant and the whipped icing to keep it from deteriorating. It won’t keep it from sliding however. You will want to use toothpicks to support anything heavy you decide to add.

    I’m new and I want to start baking from home. Do you have a fondant you prefer or recommend for hotter climates I live in Florida. What is the black ink that you used called?

      I use mostly Wilton products. I'm in eastern Canada and temps vary but we have had quite a hot summer this year and I really haven't noticed much difference in texture. Use a silicon fondant mat and a silicon roller so it doesn't stick to anything I don't want it to. The black ink I used was just Wilton gel food color. You can get edible ink pens now too. I think Walmart sells them.

    Hello i am a beginner and i wanted to ask you what kinda cake(bread) should i use…i don’t really know any recipes is there a place you recommend to get more tips on the baking of the bread and making of butter cream for fondant? I want to try to make this cake for my daughter’s bday…it looks amazing (mine will probably not look the same :( ..) thank you

      I actually color them myself using Wilton and Americolor gel food colors.

    You are a wizz with that knife! How did you cut out surprise? It’s so tiny, do you use fondant or gumpaste? Nice cakes you make.

      Hi Yvonne! Thank you so much!☺️ This whole cake is made with fondant. Tastes so much better...lol. It requires great patience on my part and a very gentle hand with small stuff. I don't cut all the way through with the first cut. If you take light shallow cuts and keep the blade super clean, doesn't stick to the fondant quite so bad. Thanks for the comment!

      This is a tough question, it’s hard to say. It was a lot! If memory serves me correct I would say there is maybe 4lbs or possibly even close to 5lbs of fondant on this cake.

      I put 4 wooden skewers in the bottom tier to hold up a 6” cake on top. That’s how I’ve always done it and still do and works great!

      Well the baking itself takes quite a while because there are so many layers unless you have multiple cake pans of each size. As for the actual decorating it was relatively easy but the ruffles were very time consuming. Depending on your level of experience with fondant it could take 4 to 6 hours maybe longer. Then add that to your bake time, you'll be at it all day for sure. But I bake from home, my days tend to run pretty slow chasing around two little boys😄 I like to decorate at night...lol
