My father received a scam call with MY OWN VOICE stating I was in jail, it wasn't my fault and he needs to call this specific number to help me out. Oddly the caller's voice sounded like my mouth was against a wall or something, and the number he called was suspicious so he hung up, he called a close family friend to check up on me and I told them I was okay and nothing was wrong, then I found out the scary truth... Scammers have no life and trying to ruin people's lives like mine to gain a profit on with no soul whatsoever! Be safe, it's scary out there.
One time a scammer called my brother and told him the wifi would be cut off and he replied "I don't have wifi, I live in a cave, and I eat boogers". The scammer hung up 😂
It's unbelievable that the model can be trained with just a few seconds of audio. Humans have such a distinct tone, speech patterns and pitch that change with different words.
That's why it's still super obvious when it's an AI, even celebrity ones that have thousands of hours of audio to train from, if you are paying attention, are still easy to notice.
It they can’t though… you need at least a few minutes of speech with no background noise to get even a slightly good ai voice. Most well know models have hours and hours of footage that they use, so don’t stress
@@rohe1790 don’t stress? they’re doing it though. And in some cases they’re succeeding. So it is cause for concern. Taking the passive approach will only make it easier for them to do it and get away with it.
This is scary. I've kept my 76yr old mom safe by telling her (sadly) that if the person on the other end has an accent, don't even respond. Now I fear they'll just use voice cloning to make things sound legit.
Hey I understand. I was scammed by someone with an accent. Big twist....it was an actual amazon representative. It happened to a verizon rep when I called them to report what happened. It wasn't the wrong number. The call was in my call log and it was the correct amazon phone number
@@FishRfun it most likely was a scammer who used a phone number spoofer or cloned the Amazon representative’s phone number. It’s actually insane how sophisticated these scammers’ techniques are nowadays
This is going to make those "your grandson is in jail on a DUI" type calls even more scary. They already had a lot of info about the person they call. Now they might be able to clone the correct voice.
That's exactly what's happened. Phillip DeFranco reported on one of those cases just this week. The scammer made off with $5000 (they were going for $15000 initially). The grandparents didn't find out until they called their grandson later to check how he was doing. The grandson had been at work the whole time.
That's why before you give them any info or money you hang up and call the police department yourself to verify? People shouldn't jump to conclusions. But I do agree that for people less informed it will make those calls more believable
My grandmother is constantly receiving scam calls. She loves to argue back with them and talk talk talk. I try to urge her not to because they can easily use her speech against her. She doesn’t believe me and thinks she’s having her gotcha moment 🙃🙃
