Why do super yachts always dock stern to not bow?
when docking ...it would be nice if you added an other camera angeling the whole backside wide view (so we see people doing the lines and the boat moving) ... ( i would place it next to what your doing with the sticks) 3 views on what your doing ...

Nice boat handling, the view of the controls included is great. I have been following you for years. I miss the older America cups boats, these modern ones annoy me, I'm getting old and cranky though, so don't mind me.

Barcelona one of our favorite port cities in the world. It’s going to get quite a bit more hectic I suspect when the billionaires and their hangers on start rolling in for the cup…..
What fun to observe it from that gorgeous yacht, and perhaps get closer to the racing with the tenders.
As a long time trucker I think my favourite parts have become your backup dockings.

What a privilege to skipper Espiritu Santu to Barcelona for America's Cup. I had a great view of the 1980 race at Newport, Rhode Island as I was privileged to run one of the two USCG 41' patrol boats that provided security for Australia to and from the course. We worked closely with Australia's tender, the Fire Three. At the time it was the largest peacetime flotilla of USCG assets. We had a blast, in fact many of those stories couldn't be told here. I'm certain you and your crew will have a great time. The tranquility of that port is about to change. Thanks again Tristan for the content you provide, your videos get me back on the water that I miss very much.
Those were great times, 1980 was a great year to be in Newport!
After the races we had our traditional last meal at Salas' before setting sail for the UK. I miss sailing very much, still dream of one last voyage to anywhere...

What get's me the most: Tristan treating the radio like a true professional, using NATO alphabet etc. and ports be like: nah, no f***s given ;-)

Another enjoyable video. Love the head-mount cam and the controls cam view! Very interesting and great views of Barcelona port. Port has changed to a real beauty from my time in the navy of 1970s-80s. Great city one of my favorite's.
I always get something out of watching each of your videos. I use any tool(s) I can get to use in my own time in the wheelhouse. So any little tid bits that you can share that you do that isn't in a book, or procedure/checklist, I am all ears. For example the little things that lend to a more efficient day and operation of the boat. Good stuff.
Good luck getting aboard an AC75. I imagine the insurance companies make guest spots incredibly rare. I look forward to seeing a video of you flying over Barcelona waters.

In Barcelona 10-13 of sep, if your there then i come by the dock and wawe to you and the crew, always enjoyed you videos back on AWOL and now this beatyful vessel :-)

Genuine question, how come LIDAR isn’t really a thing on super yachts? You would think that a LiDAR sensor on the stern and the sides would give you perfect distances and rate of approach to the dock/other yachts, rather than rely on the deck crew’s estimates.

Another great video Can you check the name of the sailboat beside you? Pretty sure it´s the one that belonged to the owner of Maersk Line until he died in 2013. The colour is matching the Maersk ships, wich makes it rather easy to spot. It was called KLEM, but name could have changed. It´s 25 meter,5 cabins, and was build in Finland in 2009, for a price around 7-8 million euro. Enjoy your stay in Barcelona :)
